That took him aback as well. He took a moment to formulate his sentences.
"A little too trusting if you ask me, but what do I know. Listen it's been good to catch up with you but the boss wants me to get that psych evaluation done on me asap. I will see you later, probably."
He spoke and rose.

-
"It's been great catching up with you, Pavel. I'll see you later." She smiles at him, waving.
-
He returned to his room for his psychological evaluation, in quite the dour mood.
-
:((((
A knock came on his door. "Hello? May I come in?" It was a male voice.
-
? What did you expect to happen
The soldier of fortune got up and opened the door. "You the doc?"
-
lol He'll get another opportunity at another girl, I'm sure
A man entered, he was middle-aged and had a kindly face. "Hello, I'm doctor Kaufmann. But please, call me Leonard." He smiled, shaking Pavel's hand.
-
I suppose so.
"Well Doctor Kauffman, let's get down to brass tacks, not to be rude but this is an obstacle between me and the mission."
-
"I understand the thought. But understand that the Triumvirate has a very strict action policy. We seek to be as efficient as possible." He sits in a chair, inviting Pavel to lie down. "This may take some time. I suggest getting comfortable."
-
The Russian sat down but did not lie down. "Whenever you're ready."
-
"Alright then, let's get started. First of all, how are you feeling today?"
-
"Just fine, I've had far worse days. I'm simply enjoying my regained freedom."
-
"Very well. Now, remember. For us to get somewhere, I will need complete honesty. It will make both of our jobs a lot easier, and remember that everything said here will be kept secret. I am a professional, after all." He takes out a notepad, scribbling something onto it. "Let's walk through your life. If you had to use five words to describe your childhood, what would they be? Any words."
-
"Focused, disciplined, ordered, preparation, and lonely."
-
He writes those down. "I see. Did you have any siblings?"
-
"No, the military academy was the first time I really interacted with of my age."
-
"Would you say you cared more about your friends than your family?"
-
"No, my friends are my family, my comrades are my brothers."
-
"I thought that might be your answer." He notes it down. "If you had to name an emotion that you carry into battle, what would it be?"
-
"I try not to but it's fury."
-
"Hmm..." He notes it down. "What do you think is more important: the end, or the means?"
-
"The end is just as important as the means,"
-
"Shared point of view, then..." He takes notes. "Now, I must ask. To you, what is killing?"
-
"A regrettable occurrence made necessary by what I do."
-
"Why do people kill, you think? For a lack of a better solution? If any other option than killing was available, would you take it?"
-
"I might, but there isn't so dwelling on what I might do instead is a sure way to go mad."
-
"But what if the option was really present?"
