I think they could possibly succeed in destroying Oryx. Stark is very smart with tech and has studied Lokis shaft with Bruce Banner. Both would be able calculate where find and consume the essence of Crota to transcend into the hive realm to get to Oryx' throne world. Since Starks Iron Man and War Machine he is default a Titan and can create a shield to protect the team from harms way, Captain America is also considered a Titan due to his super human strength.
