Nightfall = irrelevant.
Since the release of HoW, Nightfalls haven't been worth doing for the reasons I'm going to outline below.
Belt up.
[u]No NF exp bonus[/u]
Why? Just why? The exp bonus, along with the flaming head was a badge of honour, and was the [i]least[/i] you could give players for grinding through to the bitter end. You got rid of wipe to orbit and thought that gave you license to ruin NF completely.
[u]Loot, or lack therein of[/u]
A 314 Ghost. Or seven SCs as a reward for the NF?
That's like climbing Everest to its peak, and once getting to its summit, being told the wise old Yogi that lives there that you should brush your teeth twice a day. [i]NSS![/i]

NF is now just a small step up from a standard strike, what's the actual point of not allowing match making?

That pretty much covers that.
Seriously Bungie, make NFs relevant again. You can even get rid of the wipe/orbit buff to what it was. Please return NF to its former glory, and sort out its bloody loot tables, how's about NF specific loot? Now wouldn't that be something?
Tl;dr: Nighfall is utterly useless, return it to glory.

It's not just the nightfall. The whole game is now. Every bit of amour and all my weapons are 335. The PvP is so unplayable because of the system in place. Nothing to chase and nothing fun worth doing. I'll do a CoE tonight just for something to do but otherwise I'm stuck for entertainment.

It's there to occasionally be a challenge to solo. Try it sometime when the modifiers are extremely unfair. For instance, the taken version of Shield Brothers with Match Game, Grounded, and Chaff. Probably the most challenging thing I can think of in a game off the top of my head. Aside from killing Diablo on Inferno Master V with no items equipped without invincibility spells and without any assistance. That might be harder.

It's not that the rewards got that much shittier, it's just that everyone has every exotic now due to 3 of coins. Nightfalls used to be one of the only ways to obtain exotics, and now they're pretty much everywhere. Getting exotics doesn't feel rewarding anymore anyway.

Why wouldn't your once a week post match drop from the most difficult strike drop at max level? Doesn't Shaxx's weekly bounty that drops "nightfall equivalent" rewards drop 335 legendaries? It doesn't make any sense.

Honestly if they just exchanged legendary armor for legendary weapon drops, I'd be fine with it. At least you'd have a chance at getting a god roll weapon instead of just 3 legendary marks from dismantling the shitty armor. And remove the chance of getting a ghost shell once light level 330 is reached.

I stopped doing the Nightfall when the 2 people I was with gotten exotics and I got a pair of 296 legendary boots.

I don't mind the strange coin as a reward, but more often than not, it's something that's kind of a let down.... I'd like the exp buff back ( as well as the swirly glow head!) I think it would encourage guardians to start running strikes more often. Also, I don't see the point in no matchmaking. It's just a beefed up strike! JMO-

Haven't done it in forever, it's not even a nightfall it's a strike with no matchmaking. The rewards are crappy and I still haven't gotten any exotics since year 1! It's literally been "Emote package, coins, 3 of coin, and a legendary"

I find the Nightfalls alright, I just wish that strange coins and three of coins weren't the primary reward you get sometimes. I was 305ish and I just wanted to beat the nightfall to get any gear because it was most likely going to be a higher light anyways, but only to come up with 18 strange coins and a wasted hour of my life. The strikes themselves are still fun though.

I mean, I hear you, the nightfall is total bullshit and a complete waste of time.. But what else is there to be had? In year one it was the only way outside a raid to get an exotic. Well pretty much.. You get my point. It is a complete and total joke that there's no mmaking for the nightfall though. I agree with you and 99% of the community on that.

Nightfalls are good for farming strike exclusive gear. During the week that one of them lands on nightfall your chances are higher and they can drop at 335.

1 RespuestaThe Nightfall strikes need to give something special, that exp buff was pretty great, but other than that there's really no reason to run it. I feel like the Nightfall should have an incredibly good chance to drop strike specific loot as a reward. Either that or the Nightfall should have a scoring system like CoE where you get a reward based on score threshold. At least that way you know you're working towards something... and whatever you get should ALWAYS be higher than your light level unless you're 335, then it shouldbe 335.

4 Respuestasok... 1st there will be never matchmaking in raid or NF...and the reasons are obvious... 2nd since the introduction of strike specific loot NF as been more useful than before....and since the april update exotic and strike specific gear can drop at 335.... as for normal NF loot not everyone is max level... not because YOU dont need it that it mean its useless

If the nightfall doesn't return you to orbit, it's not a nightfall and you may as well just have matchmaking. Return the go to orbit option and then not having matchmaking is a good idea.

There's literally no point in doing NF anymore. I'm 335 on all characters and get 330 gear, even after soloing it...

Same applies to Shaxx's bounties. Giving me coins or ghosts is direct slap to my face that ive wasted my time.

I use to run all 3 threw Nightfall every Tuesday morning........Now I honestly cant remember the last one I did, its pointless now, I'm better off running CoE or just doing my Bounties.

NFs have ALWAYS lost their glamour when you cap. towards the end of TDB i lost interest and after having a single etheric light to spare, I only ran NFs to help friends who havent done em. during TTK they are less challenging, yes, so they should have MM added now. (before it made no sense, since a wipe would boot you to orbit) and yes, they no longer award bonus XP/rep, but that fact is counter-balanced by gains in other means, via class items with rep and weapon boosters, or motes of light providing gear XP, and most notably rep gains from material donations! you dont quit realise how much that fact alone helps so much more than a blanket 20% boost. so many things give you stuff that can be turned in for rep, which quickly adds up! and using xur, you can ramp up the rep gain to ridiculous levels!! the effect itself was nice, and some like it more than others, but it wasnt as much of a badge of honor after the twelfths time. NFs offer end-game level loot too, if your shopping around for a new weapon or just need infusion fuel, it has the potential for both all-the same (and slightly more-so now, since it comes as one item, rather than the gear and then the etheric light like during HoW). its also the best source for strike specific loot too, which is another avenue for high LL loot. point is, NFs arent as worthless as everyone makes them out to be, and the rep bonus loss is MORE than made up for with faction donations.

Looks like the top LL drops are capped at 330. So what's the point to even run it now? 3oC? Strange coins? Garbage?

Also,as others have said elsewhere, the name "Nightfall" doesn't fit any more, since that modifier (the return to orbit on wipe) is gone.
