I myself have a desktop gaming PC. So I'm trying to be as unbiased towards him as possible so he makes a right decision for himself. So far I sent him two videos that were unbiased as possible compare the two.
Any tips?

1 RespuestaEditado por Flawless : 5/31/2016 2:52:56 AMAsus ROG ones are usually the better ones for the price. Edit : the 2nd one is the one I have. He can run everything on mid-high 1080p. Or High at 900p. Edit 2: unless he travels all the time like me then there's no reason to not build a desktop

Dont be his friend.

1 RespuestaDesktops will always be more viable as gaming rigs. Laptops tend to go obsolete every few years. Most can not be upgraded either which is one of the biggest reasons. You could try to build one but this tends to be unreasonable too. Heat and miniaturization tends to be your biggest hurdles. You would also have to be handy as there isn't any barebones case for laptops so an old laptop would have to be stripped in order to be used as one. Unless the laptop is needed for college I'd advise against get one for gaming. Even if one is need, buy a really cheap one(easily can be done as laptops aren't as hot of sellers anymore) and build a cheap rig that can be upgraded over time. Might not be the best at first but you could upgrade every few month/years getting better and better parts. Good luck.

Chromebook is mint

1 RespuestaUnless he needs it to be a laptop for whatever reason, get a desktop because the laptop is just more expensive for the same thing
-
Just tell him to get a Gameboy Color.

2 Respuestas"Gaming" laptops don't exist.

1 RespuestaI needed a laptop too because I frequently travel. I went with the 2015 model of the Razer Blade. I got it for $1,600 instead of 2,000 due to a promotional sale. If your friend has the money for one I would at least recommend getting the 970. It is currently the chip to have if you're not looking for 4K or VR support.

1 RespuestaDoes he absolutely NEED it to be portable? That's always the first question I ask anyone considering a laptop because laptops are always less powerful than desktops at the same price.

It's not bad, but the 960m and the lack of ssd will gimp it. Try to look for one with an i5 cpu and a better gpu, like a 965m or a 970m. You should check out r/suggestalaptop.

I got a laptop, it plays everything fairly well. Though I hot it because I needed something to take with me for development and not gaming, so it was only a plus it could play games.

1 RespuestaWhat kind of games is he going to be playing?
