So, the tower orders guardians to destroy this weapon on site. I have a theory that the weapon cannot be destroyed and upon attempting to destroy it, it possesses you and changes you. There are exactly 9 supposed guardian deaths marked on the Red Death. And Xur is an "agent of the nine". Could be a coincidence but who knows!
What if the vanguard wants you to destroy it because it could grant you immense power. Somewhere between light and dark.....there are the nine guardians.... who once were weidlers of the Red Death......forever changed....
Edit: Thank you to everyone who had positive feedback. You guys are the real superstars! And to all the haters, thank you as well. Just know, this is my opinion and an overall cool idea. It is by no means based off facts. So, use your imagination sometime. It is great.
Edit: Also, sorry I could not respond to everyone! I have not had access to a computer.

That's why it was nerfed. Anyways, all kidding aside, are you trying to say Xur was an original wielder, or was he a victim of red death? Either way it would make sense as to why he sold it week 1 (;

13 RespuestasIf you read about it, Red Death was fashioned after a Hunter went rogue and out into the Wild. The reason for the Vanguard initiating it as a "destroy on sight" kind of treatment is due to the fact that the original user of Red Death fashioned it in a way to kill any Guardians that went after him/her and to even the extent, possibly their Ghosts. Technically, Red Death on a visual sense, shouldn't be possible. If you look at the frame of the gun itself, it is identical to that of a SUROS Regime, yet it acts as a Pulse Rifle due to modifications done by it's user. Obviously, the bayonet itself too, is a mod added. The 9 marks on it indicate how many Guardians the user killed.

The 9 could of created it.. But the odds are very rare .. Due to the fact that the red death was a fallen weapon used by captians and ultras in year one.. So if the bought it or scavenged it or made it .. It's sole purpose is a guardian killer..which leads me to believe they scavenged parts on earth particularly old Russia and customized it since it looks like a ak47 Russian type weapon.. If the 9 are big and powerful why use a earth based looking weapon and not the sleeper stimulate or some weird ray gun?

Hahahaha that just shows how Gangsta Xur really is. Sells weapons the Vanguard bans in their Tower😎
-
2 RespuestasVillainy and Red Death are the best pulses IMHO.
-
Cool theory. I remember when RD was the best Pulse in Crucible. Now there are half dozen that are better. I love to use though, it just looks BA.
-
3 Respuestas"It's a guardian killer" Yeah, so is every other fkn weapon in the Crucible, but we aren't destroying those now are we? GG Queefgobbler Shaxx & Ikora, Cayde, and Zavala

12 RespuestasActually it was an attempt to recreate weapons like the suros regime In that they are created with smart matter (which was in very short supply). There are prototypes in the crucible so that means that it wasn't initially a failure, but further tampering with synthetic smart matter caused the creator or guardian wielders to snap. Granted there is no concrete answer to its origin since that hasn't been elaborated, but I would say that the above is a modest and reasonable approach not drawing too far from given information.
-
Not to go off topic here (let's face it, it's going to happen a lot now that the Lore subs are open), but seriously people? Red Spectre's flavor text (you know the words under the gun name) clearly state that "Prototypes of Red Death have been circulating the Crucible again." So, how does this make Red Death a prototype? Let's see that again, "Prototypes of Red Death". This is not a hard statement to comprehend.

3 RespuestasCool lore. Lousy gun.

1 Respuesta*GASP* With the space included, R E D D E A T H HAS 9 DIGITS! Coincidence? Let me elaborate, RED has 3 letters: triangle, 3+9, the nine is illuminati confirmed?
-
1 RespuestaTime line goes suros, red spectre, red death. It moved to pulse rifle after an unknown gaurdian perfected it's ghost/gaurdian killing property.

Nice thoughts but no. Red death was a failed weapon. And for some reason this part of tue text was left out. "It is a guardian killer." So I doubt you are right.
-
4 RespuestasIt's an attempted weapon of sorrow I believe.
-
2 RespuestasBtw, does anybody have any suggestions on how I can acquire the Red Death, I've been looking for it for a year now, and I think I've gone completely insane.....
-
Red death may share suros regime base frame, but so do many autos. Red death does not share perks with a suros regime. Red death heals on every kill. Suros only has a chance to heal on a kills.
-
That is a super cool theory! But why those ugly tentacles?
-
1 RespuestaIt was the first exotic Xur ever sold :)

13 Respuestas"The nine" are jovians- colinists of Jupiter. Red death was created by toland, the shattered, along with bad juju. The reason the vanguard want to destroy it is because it is full of dark energy.
-
Red Death was created by a Dreg who stole a guardians ghost. He slew guardians till he became a Kell then he himself was slain
-
3 RespuestasThe nine are (we think) other war minds that survived Dismantling a gun won't make you into a super advanced A.I. With nuclear capabilities

As far as I know, dismantling it does nothing
ive dismantled like 3
