Just enlisted in the army! (Generic AMA)
I just got home from the recruitment center with a boatload of paperwork and freshly scanned fingertips, now I have to fill out more paperwork and complete some online tests. My next real step is to visit a testing center this Tuesday at 6am.
I bailed out of business studies at a local college in the middle of the admissions process for this, I'd be lying if I said this isn't more exciting and satisfying. =)

All your gonna learn is how to shoot, how to run, how to fall, how to carry alot of useless junk in a rucksack that you won't ever use, how to run on 2 hours of sleep. Your going to spend your days mind numbingly bored, with quick hours of adrenaline fueled chaos inbetween. You'll make some of the closes friends you ever have and grow to be brothers. And then something will happen and you won't see or speak to them ever again. When you get older you'll get married, but because your gone all the time (in the field or deployed) she will cheat on you and take everything you own in the divorce. Over time and deployments ( you wont have to worry about deployments though) you will turn to alcohol as a way to release stress but grow dependant on it just to make it through the day. That is until you have an incident and get stuck in ASAP. There you will get stuck in a classroom with a bunch of dope addicts and alcoholics who whine and moan about how the army is unfair and that's why they turn to substance abuse. Then you'll realize your better than those smucks and quit drinking. Then you'll prosper in the military until your final ETS ( youve re enlisted at this point a few times)comes up. So you'll get out and go back to school to finish your degree. But then you'll realize that everyoneelse in the class with you just finished highschool and your just the old guy in the back trying not to flip out on these new pansy beta males who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag, and these 18 year old girl feminists who don't have a clue what gender bias is and just want go on tumblr and complain about men..... But anyways good luck man. I enjoyed my time in and honestly wouldn't have done anything differently.

You really do get to see the world. My buddy, who's in the Navy, has set foot on every continent. Even Antarctica. He said it's very cold and he doesn't want to go again.
