I think it's because the active player base has declined so much that the try hards are all that's left. Even in my clan of over 50 members, almost no one is playing regularly anymore. We're all pretty disappointed in the fact that of all the year one content available, Bungie decided to bring back the worst of it. I didn't like PoE the first time. .. I haven't been in it once this time. The only reason I still play is because I love the game play mechanics and have yet to find a game that matches it. That said, I play but a fraction of the amount I used to.
