By having one of each class, you gain insight on the pros and cons to three subclasses that you previously did not know the intricacies of.
As a warlock or Titan you may say "(insert hunter ability here) is overpowered" but once you use it you might understand that it's only good when used properly.
In conclusion having three characters makes you a more well rounded player and validates your opinion on balancing topics.

There is a huge difference between a guy who only plays a hunter crying about "(insert Warlock/Titan ability) is OP wahhh BUNGO WTF PLZ NERF" and a guy who plays all three classes pointing out an ability being OP. In most cases, sadly, it's almost always the guy who only plays one class that ends up being a crying little shit posting salty nerf threads. The other major benefit is knowing firsthand how another class works, so you know how to counter some of their attacks. You've played that class so you know what their weak-spots consist of.

I understand that much I'm just wondering if it's a waste of time to mange 3

Definitely not. 3 chances at all end game activities for loot vs 1 or 2 chances per week

Totally worth it.
