It's funny because in Halo 5, I can set my matchmaking to 'expanded' (so prioritise connection) and find a Warzone game of 23 other people within 20 seconds... And we get 60fps and a dedicated server while playing... Seriously, this shit isn't difficult

 • Dedicated Server... key phrase. There are pro's and con's P2P makes the monthly support costs a lot cheaper. This is important, because after X years the number of sales will go down to the point where the company has to decide whether or not to pull the plug. EA has pulled the plug on a LOT of PC games in the past after just a couple years. If the monthly costs are low enough, then it becomes a non-issue and they leave it running for a while. If it's an expensive monthly cost then they consider pulling the plug. P2P can potentially increase survivability of the game. But... it has to be implemented well. And unfortunately there are obviously some problems here and there.

 • Halo 3 had dedicated servers and the Halo trilogy only had a budget of $300m iirc. Destiny series has a $500m budget plus the funding from Sony for the exclusives... There is no excuse.

 • Actually yes there is an excuse. Shareholders and profitability of product. Amount of money spent has nothing to do with any of that.

 • It made $47.5 million in the first month back in 2014. It is now almost two years later, and that number has increased substantially. There is plenty of profit here.

 • its all a matter of value. Is it of value for shareholders and CEOs to put profit back into the company or product if there will be no additional profit made or if there will be no negative sales impact? If there is no profit or loss they have zero need to put it back into the product. We need to be sitting on the board to know these things. Oh and the more profit.....the more eyes will be on that very question. They know what they are doing. cost to fix vs profit in bank

 • Well if they had implemented dedicated servers from the start, I can say for sure that the entire PvP community would be happier and more willing to keep playing/buying expansions. Look at the forums, look at Destiny streamers, no-one who plays this game even slightly more than the average player is happy with the PvP side of things because of Bungie's misguided design/balancing philosophies, shitty matchmaking and lack of actual servers. So yes, it would be worth the funding, because if you can actually keep your community happy instead of pissing them off every other week with meaningless updates and secrecy that rivals the f**king CIA, then they'll probably stay for the long haul. I don't have any idea how Bungie expect this series to last ten years if they keep this up.

 • One is a budget for a game from an established ip The other is apparently the quote for the series. Multiple games. Like including destiny 2 and everything It takes a bit to get the ball rolling on new ip I'm not saying bungie is blameless. Just pointing out the difference.

 •
One is a budget for a game from an established ip The other is apparently the quote for the series. Multiple games. Like including destiny 2 and everything
??? Destiny series (1 through whatever) has $200m more than the entire first Halo series (1, 2 and 3) and extra funding from Sony to boot, I'm not really sure what you're saying here
I'm not saying bungie is blameless. Just pointing out the difference.
I'm aware of the difference between Halo and Destiny.

 • An. Sorry. Though you meant halo 3 had that budget not the trilogy Like I said. Bungie isn't blameless in this. But they're also in bed with someone even sneaker than Microsoft so I wouldn't be surprised if that factored into their decision. Or not. Whatever.

 • True enough, I stopped liking Activision years ago (or are you referring to Sony, idk), I really wish Bungie would've just launched Destiny on their own.
