People still don't understand that having poor connection doesn't give you any kind of advantage whatsoever, unless you're manipulating it in some way (lag switch). If I'm jumping around the screen, teleporting, and not taking damage, you'll be doing the EXACT same as I am, and chances are I'll think it's your connection if I don't realize I'm red barring.
Lagging doesn't give anyone (at least me) any kind of advantage in any way. Most of the people who say lagging gives you an advantage have no right to judge until you play with bad connection. Not everyone can have top notch Internet.

Yeah the few times my connection is low, I always get pissed at other people until i check the scoreboard and realize I'm the one lagging lol It honestly looks the same
-
Then why are the red bars always top of the boards?
-
When I kill an enemy player & die two seconds later to that same player, it's almost always due to lag helping them out. When I die to someone apparently shooting me through walls, lag is helping them out. It might not seem like it benefits you sometimes, but ask anyone you play against.

This^ There has to be a level of understanding like that but there sadly isn't :/

EDIT In my original post, I basically went on to say that lagging doesn't give any kind of advantage to anyone, and that when it looks to you like I'm lagging, chances are that you're teleporting around my screen as well, and that this gives me no advantage whatsoever. People seemed to get a bit worked up by this and don't believe me, so here are a few answers to replies: People have responded that they know poor connection players that get an advantage from their connection. I don't see how that works, but I'll accept it. Just know that this isn't the case for me. I'm not sure how to check my KD, but as often a I red bar, I'm sure it will show that poor connection gives me an advantage.

To put it simply, your client moves and it's supposed to send the information of that movement to everyone else so the clients are synced. If you lag your client won't send them the information that quick and you'll create situations where you've seen someone before you've even rounded the corner on their screen. Fractions of a second is what wins gunfights, the worse the lag the more advantage could be acquired assuming the lag isn't so bad that even your client has trouble acquiring information. Download rates tend to be better than upload so you're getting everyone else's information but take your sweet ass time to give yours.

See, this actually makes sense. Thank you for actually giving an explanation instead of just blurting out "you're full of sh*t" like most people would do. I still have to say that I don't feel like I get much of an advantage at all, but I have to admit that your explanation is actually logical

I agree with you. I'd estimate my time in crucible is fairly evenly split one-third at each color - green, yellow and red. When I'm red I either can't do any damage whatsoever to my opponent, or they suddenly materialize in front of me and kill me before I can react. The problem is that this also happens when I'm green so it's difficult to determine where the problem lies - with me or with my opponent. The supposed 'connection' indicator changes so often that I am green-red-green-red numerous times each minute. I have the best available conection in my area (generally around 7Mbps down and 800 kbps up with 40-50 ms ping) so it doesn't matter how much money I throw at the screen it will never change my connection speed. The main thing is that the lag is so bad (I played one game last week and I got killed by a Fist of Havoc before the titan even appeared on my screen) that I very rarely play crucible. I still think it's ridiculous that Bungie can screw up so badly as the OP pointed out but lay all the blame on the player who bought and played the game in good faith.

You should replace "anyone" and "everyone" in your paragraph with "me". Its more accurrate considering there really is bullet sponge red bar warriors.
-
Yeah I actually just went back and changed that a few minutes before seeing your post haha. I'll probably go and rewrite the post and fix some things in a bit.
-
you don't even know what a lagswitch does lol
-
No, not really. And I could care less as to what it does. I've heard people who complain about it say that it makes the enemy players lag while you stay fine, but idk if that's accurate.

There was a guy earlier that I responded to who said he plays Destiny from North Africa on his phone...then proceeded to call me autistic and stupid when I told him you couldn't play Destiny on the phone. He also insisted that lag was always intentional and that it was literally impossible to lag without the intent to cheat. People. Are. Idiots.

Omg get that dude some education lol that was hard to read! ^
-
If you can't keep up with my vocabulary I think it is you that needs to get an education, friend. ;)
-
I meant the guy you were talking about, my bad.
-
Like it made me cringe, what he said to you
-
Who disliked this? That was -blam!-ing hilarious!
-
He probably meant he is using his phone to setup a wifi hotspot to then connect his playstation/xbox1 to this hotspot. North Africa 1, you 0
-
Maybe, but regardless, his statement that all laggers lag on purpose still certifies him as an idiot
-
It kinda sounds like that guy was trolling you. But who knows, there are plenty of people who are that clueless out there.
-
I can share his actual conversation if you want. Believe me, I don't think the kid is trolling.

Tell that to my friend that red bars all day long and wrecks people. I watched a video from someone else's perspective one time. He got headshot by my friend and then my friend came around the corner a good 10 seconds later. This is why I've given up on crucible and moved on to battlefield and halo for pvp. Let me know when you pull your head out of your ass bungie and match me with people close.
-
sounds like your defending your red bar
-
Lol good job you saw the point of my post. Yes, I am defending my red bar. And I am doing so because mentioned red bar gives me no advantage whatsoever, as many people like to assume.
