I used to think Clannad until I saw Your Lie in April

Naruto, actual spoiler ahead: [spoiler]It's not a sad anime, but no anime has made me as sad as the scene in which Jiraiya dies and all of the aftermath of that event. Character we knew for like 10 years, died like a boss and it almost felt like I could feel the emotions the characters in the show were feeling. He was and still is my favourite anime character.[/spoiler]

All you guys aren't totally impervious to this stuff yet. Whenever you get involved, just step back. Find parts of it which you can see as pandering or fanservice, and yell СУКА БЛЯТЬ at the screen in English to vent.
