What's so hard about inspecting the character either?

The person could change weapons on characters and also there is a option to hide stats which shows "this account has not played destiny" and some people don't know they have the option on.

People are lazy. That, and you will change weapons at some point, so no one will see. Put it in a spoiler if you want to be mysterious.
