Objective morality is only possible with a God giving the laws. If there is no absolute law, there is no such thing as truly good or bad. Subjective morality does not provide adequate guidelines to live a moral life.
In a society of subjective, relative morality, what Hitler did was not wrong because the society he lived in said it was not. Pol Pot did the right thing because he was trying to improve his society.
Atheism can never be the dominant religion of society because it has no objective morality.
Remember:
religion=peace and morals
atheism=hitler and genocide

False objective reasoning emerges from multi dimensional though and being able to evaluate many sides to problems and comprehend their outcomes.
-
I'm shocked by how many commentators agree with you but seem to think you're wrong.

3 RespuestasEditado por Parazrael: 5/14/2016 7:34:10 PMAlso, there is no universal right or wrong, just what the majority of society considers morally/ethically correct, which is influenced by our genes to some degree.

12 RespuestasEditado por mulldoe: 5/14/2016 8:12:52 AMEver seen a monkey put on their Sunday best and go to church? Me either, strange that other social mammals display what we call morals even though they have no religion.

There is no objective morality

Ivan Karmazov makes a much more eloquent argument.

3 Respuestas
atheism=hitler and genocide
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Hitler a Christian

Religion=Ignorant assholes

Before you condemn Hitler for genocide perhaps you should read 1st Samuel 15:3. Try better b8 next time m8.
-
There has been a law code made without religion having some place in it.
-
Fine. But with endless possibilities of what could be the truth, why should I follow one of the select few random ones that we've made up?

2 RespuestasEditado por CliffyWeevil29: 5/12/2016 5:53:34 PMAlternatively, people could possess emotions like empathy. People could also do the right thing because it's the right thing to do and not to get rewarded in the afterlife.
Also, Hitler was actually a Christian. Stalin was an Atheist. Both committed genocide, both were bad. They were individuals, not the embodiment of their beliefs.
3 RespuestasMany stories in the bible depict one king or another killing off whole tribes in the name of God and God himself flooding the earth. Morality.
-
The how do you decide what parts of the Bible you pick and choose from? I certainly don't see many Christians stoning their neighbor to death for working on the Sabbath.

36 RespuestasHitler was Christian! Charles Manson was Christian! Morals aren't set, and atheism is the dominant belief.

1 RespuestaEditado por Stickman Al: 5/14/2016 10:41:14 AMYour argument seems to be that you prefer to believe in objective morality so it must be true. In reality though, just because you'd prefer something doesn't make it true.

14 RespuestasObjective morality is not needed, only commonly accepted morality. It is against the commonly accepted morality to act like Hitler or Pol Pot did, therefore we are allowed to vindicate and criticise those people and actions. Nobody cares if a particular morality is ultimately objectively verifiable or not (it isn't), the only thing that truly matters is that we're agreed on it, because when we agree on a morality, society can function properly.
-
2 RespuestasYou don't need religion to have morals. If you can't distinguish between right and wrong, you lack empathy and common sense. Not religion.
-
Even though you are right, I don't appreciate calling atheist evil, there are good atheists out there that do good for small reasons with no eternal impact in their view whatsoever. Yes, without God good and bad is determined by a society, that's plain logic and common sense that even atheist gotta recognise.

1 RespuestaEditado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 5/14/2016 4:34:18 PMPeople will say we need a divine moral code to keep us in line because we can't trust our judgement....but then immediately make the moral judgement that god is good. Gotta love it.
