They tried to tell you. After Advanced Warfare they kept saying it. Over and over and over again. Boots on the ground, boots on the ground. We want our boots on the ground.
So what do you do? You take the boots as far away from the ground as humanly possible. Despite the fact that your own freaking hardcore fanbase, and the dopes that stream your game, told you flat out, NO BOOST THRUSTING, NO VERTICAL MOVEMENT. BOOTS ON THE GROUND.
However I for one think it's great. It's about time this waste of a franchise took one on the chin. And all the Modern Warfare remasters in the world will not save this titanic mess from sinking. Especially if Battlefield 1 delivers on what hardcore COD fans wanted all along. If that game brings it on launch, and has no issues, you may have just handed over the Military fps market to Dice and EA on a silver platter. And you have nothing to blame but your own hubris and misplaced greed.
I hope this is a wake up call. No, you can't just do whatever the hell you want, not without people buying and playing your game you can't. And quite frankly, and this is the truly hilarious part) If gamers want to go to infinity and beyond guess what they can play, and are already playing...DESTINY YOU TWITS. LOL LOL
Hopefully this debacle buries Call of Duty once and for all. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
Couple of items I wanted to add based on the feedback this post has received.
First, it's just an opinion. It's not COD hate for the sake of COD hate. And it's pretty dumb for people to come on here without the facts, or a biased interpretation of the facts, and claim business as usual. This is not business as usual. The reveal trailer has a staggering four million dislikes. You tube has dubbed it the most disliked video, not just trailer or reveal, but most disliked video in it's history. So don't come here and tout AW or Ghost or wtv, the ratio is not even close.
For anyone to suggest this isn't damaging, is just being plain idiotic. You tube is where the Lions share of COD marketing takes place, and for a reveal like this to be rejected in such a way, on their own stomping ground, it's damning period. It just is.
That's why you are hearing spin from COD CEO'S, That's why Blops 3 season pass holders are getting weapon bribes. What, you think it was out of the kindness of their own hearts to blatantly become at odds with their own gambling rng slot machines? Don't make me laugh.
Will people still buy the game, of course they will. Time and damage control heals all wounds. And I'm sure the next reveal will hype some goodies that may reverse the trend. But as of right now, it's a problem. And for anyone to come on this thread and say it's not because '' There is no such thing as bad press.'' is just being dumb, plain and simple.
Hopefully this will result in the powers that be, doing the right thing, and selling Modern Warfare as a stand alone purchase, and not using it as a bundle to save sales for their space game and shake their hardcore fan base down. And that is all I am suggesting they learn from this.
And one last thing, if there is no point in posting opinions or voicing dislikes, then why does anyone bother? Because if there are enough of them, it does matter. No matter how many people buy their game.

2 RespuestasIt's still going to sell well because of the audience it panders to. Even if every hardcore fan left it wouldn't dent the sales enough. Vocal is always the minority. Preorders are going well already despite the hate.

45 RespuestasIn fairness, which other people here have pointed out, Infinite Warfare started development shortly after the launch of Ghosts. This was a time when all of these advanced movement systems were thought to be the future of multiplayer gaming. Its wasn't until shortly after Advanced Warfare released that the new movement system began receiving backlash. By this point, Infinite Warfare was roughly 50% through its development, being Infinity Wards first 3 year cylce game, and scrapping the progress or IP simply wasn't an option. I'd be amazed if Sledgehammer releases another futuristic, chain movement game next year. I'm not defending it by any means. I honestly believe that Infinite Warfare looks like another poor quality game from a now poor quality studio, but not everything is so black and white.

Editado por 6 speed: 5/14/2016 7:20:20 AMI found it interesting that the battlefield and CoD franchises went in opposite directions. To be honest I'm not feeling any hype for the new BF. (I wanted bad company 3) But this latest offering from DICE seems very much like a reboot of the series. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Let's be honest what could they have really done differently for the modern military shooter genre? Again this is coming from someone who still would have preferred BC3. Meanwhile, infinity ward went 1000% the other direction. But, yeah I more or less agree with you.

12 RespuestasEditado por Rezinihplod: 5/12/2016 3:20:38 PMAre you thick or do you just not understand the concept of development cycles. They started development back when Titanfall was getting metric assloads and everyone, (and probably you) were thinking advanced movement was the future of Gaming. If they had abandoned it halfway through it would be shit. Also Infinite Warfare will outsell Bf1, almost certainly. CoD has been a(if not the) top selling game every year since Mw4. They're not going anywhere, and they're certainly not dying.

1 RespuestaHave you ever considered that they followed their own creativity? If they were greedy and wanted sales, they would bow down to everyone and make a 'boots on the ground game'. Instead, they followed their own vision of what the game should be and made something they are happy with. Kinda makes you seem like the bad guy.

2 RespuestasI'm no Cod fanboy (I hate their DLC practice, supply drops, etc.), but the last game Infinity Ward developed was Ghosts, and that was both one if the most hated CoDs and a very boots on the ground CoD. Now, I know it was hated for different reasons than boots on the ground, and I'm sure Infinity Ward knows that too. But, I bet they wanted to try something different. The hate for Advanced Warfare came out around a year later, right? A dev team couldn't just scrap a year of work. I guarantee Sledgehammer's 2017 game will not be futuristic.

Honestly the blind COD haters are immature

1 RespuestaThis isn't humble pie. I don't know how many times folk like you need telling but dislikes on a Youtube video and ranting on forums means absolutely nothing. The only thing that counts is money. Infinite Warfare is going to sell millions. Not just for cod4, the standard edition will also sell. Despite all the hate, people are still going to buy it and it's going to make ActVision a hell of a lot of money. If you want your voice to mean anything, don't buy it. The only way it will be humble pie is if the games sales are terrible and we all know they won't be. All those dislikes on that Youtube video mean is some people at Acti are laughing at your expense. They laugh because they know you will still buy it.

-blam!- call of duty. Stupid -blam!-ing shitty garbage game. I -blam!-ing hate how they changed shit on me. Change is bad! -blam!- that shit!

1 RespuestaOk, BF1 will never control the FPS market. COD is way more accessible and widely loved. And let me tell you something, comparing COD PvP to Destiny PvP is more HILARIOUS than anything I have ever heard ever.

-
I kinda feel bad for them, the development of this started long ago before people were tired of this futuristic stuff. They can't just scrap the entire thing & start over though.
-
6 RespuestasThey sure took one on the chin alright. BO3 made $550 million on the first 3 days alone. So the trailer for IW has over 1 million dislikes. You think that's a bad thing? Any press is good press. All that means is that there are a ton of eyeballs on it and chances are, they're disliking because it's funny. This game is being incredibly hyped due to this. Idiots will always buy this crap, no matter what.
-
Editado por Vegan Superhero: 5/12/2016 11:42:35 AMThe thing is IW started development before advanced warfare and so did treyarch. Infinite warfare is going to be a huge mess but its not like IW can do anything about it now.
-
3 RespuestasThey can't listen. Once they get a year into development they can't just stop. Well, they could but then the game would be shit and your rant would have been fueled even more about how they put no effort.

13 RespuestasWhy do people thing that taking place in the future or on another planet means it's not boots on the ground? Halo took place on an alien ring world and it was entirely boots on the ground. Gears of war took place on a human colony overrun with grotesque skies from the planet's core, and it was boots on the ground. Mass effect took place on dozens of planet's over the course of the series, travelling althroughout space, and every single mission was boots on the ground. You don't need to be set in a modern or past war to be fighting with boots on the ground.
-
I'll still buy CoD4 if/when they decide to sell it separate.
-
I was thinking the same thing. AW went too far. And they just kept pushing it. Next they will be robots fighting aliens and shooting lasers out of their eyes on some distant planet. This infinite warfare has nothing to do with COD. If they called it something else people would probably love it. But they still tried to pass it off as COD. They dug their own grave with this one. As soon as AW came everyone was saying the they don't want that flying space age crap. If they wanted to do that they would play destiny or titanfall. But they didn't listen, and they didn't listen again. That is why it's going to be the most disliked video on YouTube. But I'm sure there will be a few brown nose small brained people that will get it. But I'm sure they would be used to playing by themselves anyway.
-
And this is why I'm buying battlefield 1 instead of COD: IW
-
What I think happened is that once the community had let it be well known that we don't like this double jump verticality nonsense in CoD, it was too late for them and they already shoveled too much money into Infinite Warefare. They knew it would be a loss if they stopped production then and there, and they also knew they'd lose money if they launch he game after full development. So all they had to do was do a little thinking with gaming trends at the moment. Probably the biggest trend right now is remasters. We all love nostalgia. Especially if it's a video game we spent days upon days playing. I'm guilty of this. I bought Halo 1 and 2 remastered. I also bought Fable remastered. Why? Nostalgia. So how does Infinity Ward buy into this? Remastering one of their best-selling video games. But what about Infinite Warfare? Bundle them together and tack on and extra $20 for it. Now they think that on launch day they can brag that IW is their best selling game and that it sold more $80 versions than the basic editions. If Infinity Ward/ Activision truly cared for its fan base, then they would release the remastered MW1 separate from this POS trash heap of a game. But, we all know that's not gonna happen ( and this is something I'd love to be wrong about)
-
They're really testing people's patience. Let's see if they can make sales.
-
What if IW was boots on the ground lol. I'd rather not go back to the past in cod, less imagination there but people dislike when others use imagination
-
I don't understand why people want WW games. Sure the jump thrusters are annoying and stupid, but I don't want to go so far back in time that I don't even have actual weapon variety. Modern or early future is where I like shooters. Extreme past or extreme future makes great rpgs. The only reason cod is going into the future is for the limitless opportunity and lack of limits. Anything can happen at 2265, and chances are you guys won't live to see it.
-
7 RespuestasCoD cant make another WW game though
-
5 RespuestasIt takes years to create a game dumbass IW was in development after mw3
-
1 RespuestaCoD wont die bro, it's just so easy. People don't play games for long if they suck. In CoD it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to suck BF takes some time getting used to playing. The guns take much more skill to use.
