Long story short; I pretty much quit the Destiny grind back in November of 2014 (playing the same content over and over while praying for a slightly better piece of gear to drop wasn't my thing), but when I upgraded from PS3 to PS4 in November of this year, my son wanted to re-purchase Destiny. We did, and I played through all the expansions but was never able to find a group for any of the raids. The raids are pretty much the only content (or at least the biggest pieces of content) that I haven't done and I'd love to try them out, but it seems like everyone runs them on Hard mode and I'm pretty sure you have to be 320 light for that.
Now with the April update, it seems that people can get to the highest light level if they're already level 320 (Challenge of Elders, Nightfall Strike, etc) but I've been stuck at 308 light for two weeks. I do the Level 41 Prison of Elders, Daily Strike, etc. but it seems like all of my loot drops end up worse than the gear I already have.
I've also used the Three of Coins to try and get better drops, but since the hotfix I haven't gotten a single piece of loot from them. I decode legendary engrams with my best gear on and still end up with items that're worse than what I have.
Am I doing something wrong? Can someone give me some general tips for getting from 308 to 320 light?

Nightfall

Your first mistake is doing the daily and level 41. You can do 42 easy. As well as do heroic strikes farm exotics and unfuse em into your regular gear.
-
1 RespuestaYou can run Challenge of Elders with 308 if you find some nice people. Honestly, the "320" requirement is total BS but some people still listen to it. CoE42 is very easy. But if you want to level up some before that... Rank up your factions: Vanguard / Crucible / Dead Orbit / etc. Most of them grant 1 or 2 items that are higher than your TOTAL light score... so that helps quite a bit. Try to get Exotic engrams. They also tend to give higher than your total score.

If you haven't unlocked shaxx weekly crucible bounties, you can do that, and will give you another chance at getting higher light gear. Just make sure your at your highest light before turning in that last bounty (5 out 5 completion bounty). This goes for all gear your decoding now, if you weren't aware.

1 RespuestaThanks for the replies, everyone. I levelled up my Gunsmith from 0 to 1 and only received a Mote of Light, but I also ranked up FWC and Vanguard and got some decent rewards.

1 RespuestaYou suck

Level factions, do shaxx bounties!

U hav no caracturds so i cant hlp sryu

All you have to do is patrol amd grind those vangaurd packages. The items drop at higher light

Editado por Calculus-Entropy: 5/11/2016 3:28:07 PMGrind during the week for motes and coins. Feed the motes to your faction and the coins to Xur for heavy synth, then give them to your faction. 100 coins alone is 3 faction packages. Max your light before cashing in your packages and pretty soon everything they give you is 330.

Editado por Jamesxgamz: 5/11/2016 2:45:06 PMYou can still do Challenge of Elders at 308 light if you can find a fireteam Iron Banner will be back I about 2 weeks. That is always good for higher light gear and using 3oC to get exotics
-
Editado por Zeldasavvy64: 5/11/2016 2:42:07 PMGrind bounties, trials, challenge of Elders, and iron banner whenever they are available. Also make sure you're at least rank five in the factions. Edit: this raised my light from 316 at the beginning of the April update to 326 now.

Make sure you're equipping your highest light level items before decrypting engrams. This will ensure that the RNG system rolls something that you actually need. If your highest level is 308 make sure you don't have a new piece of gear that drops you to 298 or something when you're visiting the Cryptarch. This same concept should be used for raising and PoE Challenge so that you roll high light level items upon completion or visiting Variks.
-
Grind strikes and anything that gives you rep for rank up packages. That can get to up to 330 armour
-
Farm challenge with 3oC equip to highest light level before decrypting engrams.
-
Will gladly run Challenge with you. It's a slow way to get your light up, but it pays off. I'll also run nightfalls and stuff with you. Feel free to add me on PSN (PSN ID is same as bungie name) and shoot me a message to run stuff. I haven't touched the new raid--I haven't had the "want" to. May in the near future though. But probably not.

Been stuck for 2 weeks? You're just not trying. My friend had literally the shittiest internet (hughes.net or whatever it's called is the only thing in his area) and has only ever completed one raid in year 1, so he was light 291 when the april update hit, we've been grinding out heroics with two boosters once a week since the update hit and now he's 319. If you just want carries, then say so. Your wall of text is irrelevant since heroic strikes still pay out legendaries, they drop strike exclusives and the rep booster when used right with a class item will net you 286 rep per strike, meaning a vanguard rank up package every 7 or 8 strikes depending on your bounties for that day.

PoE 41 isn't gonna give you shít. Challenge of Elders is easy as can be, and will give you a weapon and armor for 2-3 runs per character. Don't let the light level fool you. The 42 PoE is easier than 41. Go to the 100.io and make a post
-
Poe, coo, gunsmith, factions, raid. You can easily do Poe 42 so I'd start there. Raid is easiest to get a lot of gear but takes a while and you need a group obv - try the100.io
-
If you're on Xbox and you can watch a video on how to do the raid on YouTube I'll carry you through in my account (I'm 335 on all three chars)
-
Keep grinding your faction rep / vanguard / crucible rep, as you get packages you should continue to grow your light. Reach out to people on DestinyLFG.com, especially the 'Sherpa' category. Some folks are willing to carry you through Challenge of the Elders (I did this for a buddy at 301 light, got him to 308). Challenge of the Elders is probably one of the best bangs for the buck (blues seem to drop above your level, in addition to every round being a 3oC round) if you can't do the raid. I just re-joined the Destiny community after 4 months being completely gone, and was in the same boat (around the 300 mark on both toons). I've made a ton of progress grinding the CoE, up to the point where I could get through the raid. Once I could raid, I gained another 4 to 6 levels per week just from raid gear.
-
Do the challenge of elders, Nightfall, and use 3oC a lot.
-
Rank up your faction and the rewards from the package should decrypt at a higher light lvl
-
Editado por KayOsS882: 5/11/2016 2:01:10 AMDo Coe, however before picking up any rewards, equip your highest level gear. This way when you pick up your rewards that drops, you'll get a higher chances of higher light level items. Do same thing when decrypting engrams. Decrypt one at a time, check to see if light level is higher. If yes, equip and decrypt. This is the motto Decrypt then equip then decrypt.
-
1 RespuestaYou can rank up crucible once every 2-3 hours especially with daily bounties. It grants you a random item up to 5 light levels higher than your current light. I went from 314 313 315 to 329 329 330 in 2 weeks mostly just doing that and 42 poe. Don't do 41. It grants nothing. But make sure to get the 30k and 90k on the 42, guaranteed weapon and armor piece same deal, 5 light higher than your current light.
