Fusion Rifles

I don't even have to say anything else, but I will anyway. These weapons have no place in the meta, because the spread is RNG. This is the ONLY weapon type with RNG while aiming down sights [i]and[/i] projectile travel time, making them the ONLY inconsistent special weapon. I feel like they were nerfed because of the 30 people that would snipe with fusion rifles. But you have to understand, it's a charge time/travel time weapon. Anybody sniping with one is obviously very skilled and deserves to be rewarded with long range kills. Queenbreaker's Bow and Sleeper Simulant shouldn't be the only consistent fusion rifles at medium-long range. As it stands now, equipping a fusion rifle instantly puts you at a disadvantage. I want that to change. I want to see my favorite weapon type back in the meta. What I would like changed: •Tighten the spread. Remove the "cone" off of all fusion rifles so the bolts actually go where I'm aiming. •Revert the changes made to Split Shifter Pro and other low-impact fusion rifles. These were already very underused and didn't need to be nerfed further. •Make Vex Mythoclast feel like an exotic again. Currently, it has poor damage, RNG spread, and it's the only primary that isn't hitscan. This thing [i]sucks[/i] now. •Basically, roll back all changes made since TTK. Every change made since then has been awful. This would be enough to get fusion rifles back into the game. Snipers and Shotguns have had their fun for too long now.

    if they buffed fusions anymore and i ever bothered to go into pvp again i have a feeling i would dominate. Im already one of those people that can sniper practically with a fusion and wreck in game with them. If they do get better my goodness i would just have a field day in crucible. i would like to see the get some nice love though. after all took them a year and a half to get some good attention and not nerfing into the ground when no one bitched about them.

    I main the vacancy, I aim for the bottom left knee and every bullet hits them, I can even kill easily at mid range. I have had it when I feel all my shots hit but didn't but maybe that's due to moving while shooting or something. If you drag as it kicks up and right it will change its pattern. So I'd say fusion rifles are fine as they are IMO. They have enough range where you can kill at distance then if you don't kill them either finish them with primary or charge again. Try the vacancy from FWC, it's a very good roll.

  • I completely agree with this. I love my fusion rifles but the inconsistency of kills gets frustrating. Sometimes I can be witching shotgun range and shoot someone and make full contact but it only takes out half their health which means I have to charge and shoot again which usually gets me killed.

    • I wish that fusion rifles were better, as in more consistent, like the op said. I also wish we had different varieties of fusion rifles. Some that fire a more concentrated beam, or function like the Focus Rifle in Halo Reach, or maybe even a close range Blunderbuss-like fusion rifle. We did finally get a Spartan Laser; read Sleeper Simulant so it's not all bad. The variety of arms in this game is still severely lacking. Sure you have tons of different rifles, but compared to games like Halo, I'd take a few really different weapons over the same weapons with different archetypes. (Plasma Rifle, Needler, and Cov-Carbine anybody?)

    • I got more than a few team wipes in trials with plan c... If you use them right they're pretty darn good. More of a defensive wep tho. You wouldn't necessarily rush with one but if you bait fools in... "Surprise mutha-blam!-a!" They get melted.

    • Fusion Rifles need 2 fixes and only 2 fixes. 1) -blam!-ing bolts despawning on death is still Bullshit 2) they're still under-ranged

        • Step One: Equip Pocket Infinity. Step Two: Spray and Pray. Step Three: Agree with post. Fusion Rifles are my favorite special weapon to use. During Year 1, Plan C was my primary Exotic weapon I used until I received Gjallarhorn. (Week 2 ='( ) I can't help but see good feedback on this post in all regards. From the inconsistency of the shots fire, etc. And at the same time, they still feel powerful to use, both in the Crucible and in PvE. Minor tweaks might be needed, but overall, I'm happy with where they are at.

          Fusion rifles are in a good place right now but I understand completely what you mean. I don't think Bungie should have nerfed fusion rifles because they already have a downside to them. They all have to charge up thus making players predict the targets position. I was a HUGE fan of fusions in vanilla destiny. Fusions had range and were way more consistent than they are right now. I do agree with you. Fusions need their range and tighter cone spread to be more consistent. Im glad that fusions got their stability back with the recent weapons patch and I am enjoying my Vacancy very well. But I will never go into trials with one because of the inconsistency. I rarely see players in trials with a fusion rifle and that speaks volumes. Also with all that data Bungie covers, I don't know why they haven't done anything about that as yet. Trials only consist of snipers, shotguns and sidearms. And in that order. To close it out. Fusions are good now but Vanilla Destiny fusions were 100% better.

          • They are fine. I have no problems at all. Just get better or use a shotgun if you want something that's easy to use.

Fusion rifles don't fire a spread like shotguns do. It's more of a burst pattern like pulse rifles. Recoil is your enemy, not spread. They are always going to drift upward from the point that you initially aim at when you fire off a burst. Unlike pulse rifles however, you're dealing with seven projectiles fired per shot and a sometimes random drift left to right when you fire. Stability reduces recoil which ultimately reduces the amount of vertical drift of the projectiles. In other words, if you want to be more accurate, increase stability as much as you can.

              • I don't know what your complaining about, fusions are op for imo. All your points are invalid, especially when you said queen breaker now is consistent, it's all luck and I never hit my well deserved snipes.

                • I am consistently get 2.0 to 3.0 k/dis in matches getting kills primarily with a fusion rifle. I doubt the validity of your points.

                  • Ever since the removal of shotpackage, shotguns have suffered from the same inconsistency at range. Sometimes all your pellets hit, sometimes 2 hit.

                    • I'm having no problem getting kills with my Plan C or Ashraven's. They're not back to what they were in year one, but they are definitely a viable choice again.

                        If I had to rework Fusions, it would be as a high risk/reward weapon. Overhaul the way Charge rate works and compound this with stability/spread: Extend the charge rate, however allow fusion rifles to hold maximum charge, dispersing on trigger release. The longer you charge to capacity, the more shots fired from it’s burst, higher the range, more volatile the stability. If charge is held for too long, you are penalised by either overheating damage or your fusion cells are consumed. This new mechanic should add more versatility to Fusion Rifles eg: minimum charge, it has more or less function of a scout rifle, maximum charge will act as king of mid-range as a long-ranged shotgun. Even if they trialed this as an exotic first, i'd be happy.

                        • While I agree with the changes you suggest, I wouldn't necessarily say that equipping a fusion rifle automatically puts you at a disadvantage. Sleeper Simulant and Queenbreaker's Bow are great for range, but telesto and Plan C have been tearing it up in shotgun ranges. The only thing that sets them apart is the charge time vs instant firing of the shotgun. It takes more skill to wield a fusion rifle consistently and effectively, but is ultimately more of a rewarding feel when you get that kill. I'm sure there are other fusions that perform well, these are just two that I use (moreso Plan C) with decent effectiveness. Like I said, I agree with the suggested changes. I just wouldn't go as far as saying that all fusions automatically give you the disadvantage.

                            • Fusion rifles are good enough now. I dare to say maybe even a just a tad too good. I haven't used them that much but when I have, it's been so easy that it was boring and I even felt guilty. That was actually before the update. I think that some people just haven't figured out how and when to use them. That being said, it's a sad shame that PRIMARY gunfights are becoming such a rare occasion now.
