Thoughts on Tracer being Sexualized

I really dislike polls with extreme choices as the only real options.

Actually a professional animator did a REALLY good YouTube video on this. 1. He first walks you through the basic principles of poses and what makes for good animation. 2. Then he analyzes the controversial pose for Tracer, its replacement....and also looks at one of the poses for Widomaker. His verdict: The pose was just a BAD pose, that violated the basic principles of good animation that he reviewed, and that the criticism of it "being out of character" for Tracer was right on point....and he said that he agreed with Blizzard's decision to change it, and felt that the replacement pose was better. His objection to the original pose can basically be boiled down to a single sentence (of his), "This pose seems to serve NO purpose other than 'Hey, look at my butt.' " His point was that he didn't see "sexualization" as a problem.. In fact he considered its use legitimate as long as it was used advance the character. He then goes on analyze and point out the sexualized aspects of one of Widowmaker's victory poses, but then explains why this was a much better pose than the Tracer one because it was consistent with Widowmaker being the Femme fatale/Black Widow/ Female assassin type character.

4 RespuestasI think they may have gone a bit overboard on how defined her ass is, even if it's conservative compared to other female characters in videogames, but nothing else about the character is suggestive at all, in my opinion. But Jesus Christ I hate Tracer, she's so goddamn hard to hit, teleporting everywhere and then Chronos ulting 8 seconds into the past, -blam!- TRACER

There's no reason a person should ever change their character for any reason other than they want to. The original pose should have remained in the game if that's how the developers wanted it. People sexualize everything anyways so who cares.

I don't care. As much as feminists or feminazis want to stop the sexualisation of women in video games, it's never going to happen. One way or another, even if they have full bulky armour or clothing, the community will find a way. Look at Mei, fully covered in that bulky outfit yet people manage to put her in that category.
