COD Hate
Let's drop some truthful, unbiased facts on this beloved cancer ridden forum of mine.
Fact: Cod is single handedly one of the most hated games on this forum.
Fact: "Cod is bad" = Opinion
Fact: "Hundreds of thousands of people dislike cod, just look at the trailer on YT"
Knowing this, let's talk about cod.
Say 100k+ people dislike a game. They all band together and talk about how bad it is, perhaps go and dislike its teaser. This isn't about infinite warfare, this is about Black ops 2. Hands down, confirmed by Activision CEO, to be the most successful Cod ever released, maintaining 500k+ daily players between 2 consoles for 3 years. There has always been a following of cod haters for every game. The more cod grows, the more the hateful following grows as well.
Eventually thw following grows so large they actually believe they make up such a percentage of the games possible consumer following that they make assumptions that if THEY aren't buying it, there won't be many left who will. That has been and will be proven wrong, again.
100 thousand+ people might seem like a large number when they're gathered together, but they're dwarfed by the millions who will still buy the game to form their own opinions, and probably enjoy it.
I know I'm probably just feeding the trolls with this entire post so let me sum up all of this with short undeniable facts.
Tl;dr[spoiler]Love it or hate it. Cod will outsell all of your favorite fps games, millions will enjoy it, thousands won't. Same story every year.[/spoiler]
Edit 1: To all of you who think dislikes on a youtube teaser will affect sales negatively, you have a lot to learn about publicity. A million bandwagonners will only spread interest in what the game will be.

6 RespuestasYou know another hugely popular game that released new games annually till this year? Assassins Creed. For a long time Assassins Creed was king of role playing action/adventure games, until 2 years ago Unity released ([i]cough cough[/i] Advanced Warfare) and people realized how flawed the story was and all the technical issues it had. Point of this is that this is what's happening to CoD right now, sure maybe a lot of people are bandwagons disliking it, but the majority of people who disliked the trailer are legit annoyed/disappointed that CoD is doing another run of the mill future shooter (this time in space!!!) with another mediocre story and same stale multiplayer full of stupid ass wall running.

It's a yearly franchise, sales of Infinityward's last game Ghosts were down, as was Sledgehammer's Advanced warfare. Black Ops 3 had good sales, but that's because Treyarch is regarded as the most creative dev team, they have zombies. I've always got my moneys worth from Treyarch games, they're packed with content. I felt violated with recent Infinityward, Sledgehammer games. 14 RespuestasThe problem with CoD is that it isn't a game, it's a brand name. Activision can produce literally the shittiest game ever made, slap the CoD name on it, and fanboys will buy it. The sad part is, Activision is fully aware of that fact.

The reason CoD got so many dislikes on its trailer is because most of the people who watched it are fans of the original franchise. The people who wanted it to go back to its roots with a modern/past era theme. However they are trying to branch out to new players while ignoring those who have been playing. The MW remaster was an attempt to have the best of both worlds. It will help but not tremendously. Now let's look at battlefield. They got overwhelming good feedback for theirs. You can go ahead and say CoD used actual gameplay footage and battlefield just used cinematic footage but that point is moot in the big picture. Fact is, almost every BF fan wanted a WW1/WW2 game and DICE delivered. This is why CoD gets so much hate. They want to branch out into new genres, which isn't a horrible tactic in itself, but when it's a genre almost none of the original fan base wants, they are going to get hate for it.

I think you have the right idea that it will sell, but you have no real understanding of why it will sell. The simple fact is that Activision knew no one wanted to buy a futuristic game, but they had been working on it long before the negative stigma towards futuristic games began to appear. So what do they do? Remaster cod 4 and make it available only if you buy infinite warfare. Many of the people disliking the video will end up buying it because of cod 4, but I seriously doubt that the game would do well if it hadn't remastered mw. Also the dislikes are approaching 2 million. Much more than 100k.

2 RespuestasWhy do i hate cod? There is no team-based objective gameplay. I usually play games like Tf2 Dirty bomb Overwatch Battlefield Any moba Where team composition and objective gameplay matter. There is none of this in CoD. Some gamemodes (payload, dominaion, demolition) require objective play, but these are far and few in between the mass TDM gamemodes. For instance, uplink. I got 15 goals one gMe. Thats 3000 points! But, i was bottom of the leader board. The #1 player? 60 kills, 0 goals. I hate that, and for that reason, i hate CoD.

Someone responded with "cod sales have steadily dropped" but seems to have forgotten that Black Ops 3 was the biggest selling game of 2015 and pulled in over 550 million on it's opening weekend. I don't play call of duty. It's not that I "hate" the game I don't play Battlefield or a collection of other FPS games either. FPS isn't one of my favourite genres, i'm more of an RPG gamer. That being said I do know that cod is one of the biggest selling franchises in gaming history. Yes, the trailer has a million dislikes, we've all found that amusing but it won't do much to impact sales. A lot of those that disliked the video will still buy the game. More than that, they will spend extra to get cod 4. Now people will say "but that's so they can get the old cod" and yes, yes it is but all that money goes in the same direction. It doesn't matter how much you hate the direction a game is going if you continue to spend money on it. System Shock 2 is one of my favourite games. If they bundled a remastered version of that game in with one I don't like for a higher price then I wouldn't buy it. It makes no sense to pay money towards a game I don't like just to play one I do. Spending extra just for cod 4 supports what ActiVision are doing and shows them something else they can get away with. This issue leads on to something else i've been saying for years. Publishers/bad devs aren't the problem, gamers that continue to pay for every single shady business practice are the problem. Tl:dr ... it doesn't matter how much hate CoD:IW gets, it's still going to be one of the biggest selling games of the year. Blame gamers that continue to pay for shit, not companies that are only doing what they do to make money.

2 RespuestasI think COD hate comes from jealousy. People are jealous that it gets more attention than the games they like or games that are better in general. I'm not a fan of COD, but I'm also not a hater. I think some people don't realize you can be one without the other.
