Just played Destiny after a 6 month break: Thoughts

Day 1 player. Around 1,200hrs logged. I've done everything in this game. I gave up on Destiny around Thanksgiving, when FO4 came out. I had enough finally, and that game was just interesting enough to pull me away from Destiny. Since then I have been catching up on all the games that Destiny essentially robbed me of because I, like a lot of people out there, was extremely addicted. With the recent lull in games (DS3 is done, waiting on new Division + Fallout update), I had a strange urge to pop Destiny back in and see what was new, with the new update and all. After such a long break, figured maybe it would be fresh and fun again for me. Kinda nervous that I would end up getting re-addicted. Beat all the new story lines, new strikes, few heroic strikes, PoE within like 2 hours. Thoughts: -I never saw a single piece of gear drop that was even >300 light. I am only 310-315 on all my chars. Seems like the only way to get upgrades is via ToO / Challenge of Elders / Raid? -The gunplay that is so critically acclaimed: was not very impressed at all. After playing a lot of other shooters (and with a fresh pair of eyes), Destiny does not feel superior to other games. Maybe a little more polished, but definitely not the Alpha and Omega of gunplay. The fun factor was nowhere to be found for me. - PVP is still a mess. Lag was worse than I can ever remember seeing. Played 2 games and people were teleporting and not taking damage. If the only way to upgrade is to grind the same boring raid over and over, or to spend countless hours getting exotic engrams, or to play a messed up PvP (ToO), then I will pass. In the fall, all that grinding that is required will be meaningless when the light level is raised again. If it was fun grinding, that's one thing. But it's just mind-numbing, for the sole purpose of bragging rights. I saw absolutely nothing that will motivate me to even consider playing again any time soon. Not to say that Destiny 2 can't be good, but there is nothing for me here now. If you like it, good for you. These are just my thoughts and opinions. Neither right or wrong, but that is my personal view.
