The Fermi Paradox.
Space is so vast and has so many possibilities, that the probability of extraterrestrial life is incredibly high.
Yet, there is basically zero evidence that any life besides our own does exist.

Aliens take me away from here!

I like the theory that suggests alien beings upload their minds to a massive virtual environment and live in an entirely virtual world.

Editado por Icarus026: 5/8/2016 4:29:48 PMThere are a few good exanations to the Fermi Paradox that I like. My personal favorite is that planets with intelligent life are under a strict "National Reserve" mentality- don't touch them, just look, until they reach a certain level of advancement. (Note: the idea of some intergalactic police force, as there are supposed to be at least something like 100 different Type III civilizations in the galaxy, isn't that far fetched.)
-
I find this the most likely.
-
Oooh... Thats interesting
-
Isn't the a ship called the Fermi paradox in game?
-
Fermi Solution by Dead Orbit. I actually looked it up one time and came upon the Fermi Paradox which I found interesting. Coincidentally, I ran into this post. Its actually quite clever and relevant to Dead Orbits Mission of Reaching out to the stars and expanding beyond our Galaxy.
-
Yep, it's also a pretty awesome ship
-
Lol, I always go back to it. Unfortunately ... In my effort to collect every faction shader/exotic i had to switch my loyalty to New Monarchy.
-
What rank in New Monarchy were you when you got the exotic Titan Mark? Sorry to as so late.
-
Um, 25 for exotic faction cloaks. My hunter is around 6 atm. Have to farm those strange coins and motes of light to boost it faster.
-
Thanks. I think my hunter is 11 or something for Dead Orbit. Sorry for asking so late after you posted that.
-
No problem. Yeah. Fastest way to level is farming strange coins and buying heavy synths from Xur. 100 Synths = 1 Rank up and 100 Strange Coins buys you 300 Heavy Synths. Good luck !
-
Thanks!

I'm only missing the fwc ttk ship
-
Im missing one New Monarchy Ship and 2 shaders. That should be found soon though. FWC, I'm missing everything but I finally started playing my warlock again, so hopefully I'll find it soon :)

Something that's always concerned me with this Is time factored into these kinds of things ? So example considering earth is located towards the edges of the Milky Way were technically "older" than any planets or stars closer to the immense gravitational well in the center One could then assume that any large bodies or collections of bodies could be undergoing similar processes So the Fermi paradox may really only exist because in terms of timelines and time itself we as humans are the first forms of life to originate because we lack any immediate nfluene from some large gravitational field
-
Yes, yes and yes. I like that idea very much as an explanation.
-
Space is big, mind bogglingly big. Time is long. We are on a very small speck of dirt in an immensely spread out pile. We haven't even truly explored our speck to any great degree . So how could we possibly effectively search for other signs of life. Next point, who says anyone else thinks we are important enough to make contact with. We truly may be the bogans of the universe, and for all we know there is a big sign somewhere saying" idiots ahead, avoid at all costs ".
-
True... But we're arguing possibilities :)
-
Or perhaps "probabilities"!
-
Stop it with the dirty geek talk ;)
-
Ha ha ha lol.

As far as we are aware, light moves faster than anything we know. Our Sun is the closest star to us and the light from it takes (give or take) 8 minutes to reach us, travelling at the speed of light. The next closest star is Proxima Centauri, 4 light years away. A Light Year is 6 Trillion Miles. So, assuming Proxima Centauri has planets nearby that support life, if they have the capability, they would have to travel more than 24 Trillion Miles, which, at the speed of light would take 4 years or so, travelling constantly at that speed to reach us. Unless they can bend Space, or there's Wormholes etc. Scary to think that when we look at the Night Sky and all the Stars, we're looking back in time.

There's already theories on warp drives.
