The Smoking age in California is now 21

As an initiative to get adolescents to live a healthier lifestyle, gov Brown passed a bill to raise the smoking age to 21.
I don't smoke myself, and I'm older than 21 so it doesn't effect me as much personally. But I think it's an overall good thing. Let the brain fully developed before you make decisions that could probably change the outcome of your life.

Can they still smoke on private property with a parent's consent if they are underage? (If it was ever a thing to begin with)

I can face all the blunts you drop in front of me, but if I have to do something I'm still doing it. Couch lock only affects you if you let it lol. Edit - for cigs? Who tf cares? 4 RespuestasIt used to be 16 in the uk, 18 now. I remember when they changed it, any 17 year olds who had been legal smokers for a year suddenly were underage and couldn't buy them! I feel sorry for the 19-20 year old smokers this effects most.

Yhea Hawaii did it first and CA is adopting. Both to deter tobacco use as well as reducing the chance of vaping They found that 19 and below are the ages that people are introduced and become addicted.

9 RespuestasIn New Zealand the price of a pack of 20 is $20 at the moment. The government are not banning it. Instead they increase the price by 10% every six months until people can't afford it anymore. I think this is a great way to go at it. And I am a smoker myself.

17 RespuestasI don't smoke but I find it completely bullshit that I'm 19 and can't Do it if I want to they sure as hell made sure to exempt military personnel but now just like drinking they -blam!-ed it up for everyone else my age. It is not the governments job to mandate what I choose to do to my body. If i want to smoke I should not have to join the military to.

This bill is a waist of the paper it's printed on. Less and less kids are smoking cigarettes, not because of the crimgworthy anti-smoking adds, not because of the 'DARE' propaganda schools are teaching, and certainly not because of a piece of paper. If someone wants to smoke, they're going to get their hands on something to smoke. If anything, this just hurts the situation, as now there's going to he a larger demand for them.
