Over the past 5 years since 343i took over the mantle of responsibility, a popping up phrase has been recurring in the community and that phrase is that "Halo is dead/dying". This is clearly over exaggerated, as Halo 4 and Halo 5 were both highly successful and generated bucket loads of money showing that many, many people still care enough to spend their money on the franchise. What this statement actually means is that, the series has deteriorated from it's former glory and is now a shell of its former past. The game is bollocks.
Halo has clearly shown evidence of a decline over the past couple years (Mainly after Halo 3). Halo 3 was Halo's pinnacle, it was a critically acclaimed game that so happened to sell a whopping 12 million units! But since then sales have only decline... With Halo ODST selling 6.5 million, Halo Reach and Halo 4 about 10 million and Halo 5.... Selling a measly 4 million. Of course Halo 5 is still very young and this will most likely increase as time passes by and the Xbox One isn't nearly as successful as the 360 but the statistic show that Halo 5 is the worst performing game in the mainline series. But what about the game? Those are just sales and surely they don't matter. Well, Halo 5 launched very, very poorly as we all know. With <15 maps and only about 6 playlists this was undoubtedly a mainline Halo title’s worst launch in the series. Along with no Splitscreen, a misadvertised campaign length, poor story and Microtransactions this led people to become PISSED. This wasn't a good time either as just last year TMCC launched and everyone was getting all hyped up and the game launched broken. To this day it is still yet to be confirmed that TMCC is functioning as it should have been. These have been rough times, and Halo isn't doing nearly as well as it used to but the game isn't dead. In MY OPINION, despite Halo 5's launch it's a return to form, and hey now that 343i's got gameplay down all they need to do in Halo 6 is give us that sweet and juicy content (Fingers crossed for a good story).
What's truly killing Halo is the people saying that "Halo is dead, -blam!- 343i". They're intoxicating the new generation that have chosen Halo to be their main game franchise and are intoxicating the community by posting such slander that is harming the game's reputation even farther and is splitting the community even more. Yes, 343i made mistakes just like every other company, but our job as a community is to critique them and pressure them so that they don't make these mistakes again and that WE MAY GET A BETTER HALO GAME!!! Simply hating will not solve problems but make them worse. So I ask as a community, as Halo fans that we may join together and offer as much critique and that we may PRESSURE 343i so that we may get that Halo game that will return the franchise to it's former glory and force it back to the top of the FPS market and make it the game that made an Xbox worth getting. Don't just sit on your asses pulling out every bit of shit from your butt crack and fling it at 343i. Think logically and find a way to get 343i to LISTEN to you, to us, so that they may add what we WANT. I ask that we may work together as a community so that we may make Halo great again.
Platinum out.
P.S: This is the first time I've done something like this so some feedback would be appreciated. Also if I made an significant grammar errors I do apologize. If you see any feel free to point them out! Also if you read the whole thing, thanks.
1 RespuestaPersonally, the Halo fever somewhat died within me when the Master Chief Collection was released. The disappointment of waiting in line at midnight to come home to a game that still does not work fully after all of this time turned me off from Halo some. Still love the franchise, always will, but different directions will always turn different heads.

It will if 343 don't up their game soon.
-
In its current state most of the veteran players have left. They now have zero interest in the game. I'm sure more people will come as time goes on. But if they remove sprint around 8,000,000 players most likely will return.

It's not BAD. But I wouldn't say it's "dying" either. However, it's more like a shadow of what it used to be in terms of its footing in the gaming industry. In every year from Halo CE to Halo Reach,(2001-2010) Halo was basically the "king" of the FPS shooters, or at the very least, was treated as one. Every FPS game that was coming out was treated as the "game that kills Halo," such as COD games, Battlefield etc. It was Halos golden age, where everyone played it, everyone loved it, and Bungie was one of the most renowned gaming companies. Ever since 343 took over, Halo is nothing of what it used to be. Even more so, 343 doesn't seem to know what made Halo so fantastic in the first place. The lore, storylines, art concepts, they all seem so different. Hell, even the soundtrack, which I'm very disappointed with, since that was one of my favourite parts. I'm not saying 343 is doing a bad job, but they're changing Halo. For better or worse. It's up to the player whether or not they want to be apart of 343's Halo universe.

8 RespuestasBungie killed the Halo franchise a LONG time ago with Halo 3.

1 RespuestaHalo died when Reach died

9 RespuestasEditado por Oddball: 5/4/2016 8:17:23 AMYep. 343 keep trying to attract COD fans and keep failing. There is a reason why Halo isn't even on the top ten most played games on XBL and sold the worst in the series.

1 RespuestaIt entirely depends on what you consider a good halo game, how you define what halo is, and what you consider success. To me there hasn't been a good halo game since Halo CE. I've sunk a lot of time into all of them because I enjoy halo as a franchise. And each game had its own way of being fun. But to me halo 5 is as close as you can get to CE in terms of quality. Though halo 4 still holds the mantle for the best written story of the games. Personally I think halo 2 was probably the worst in the series.

15 RespuestasHalo died once 343 took it.

5 RespuestasEditado por Boomdeyadah: 5/5/2016 7:48:56 AMThe franchise is personally dead to me. I've already accepted the realization that I've finally outgrown the series I should move on. The Halo charm doesn't rub onto me anymore, after one dumpster fire of a game (4) one catastrophic failure of a launch (MCC) and one overall mediocre game (5) was enough for me. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

It's flat-lining...

I personally think they should have quit the series when Bungie did. I played halo 1-3 and since then it felt done to me, don't need another one. I feel the same with gears, great games they were, but i don't need more of that. Start really making something new instead please.

When halo 4 came out it halo was as good as dead to me with the timing Sights and whatnot. I hated it and I've been a dedicated Onyx player since day one of halo CE the first halo. But now that halo 5 guardians is out I love it dude I haven't stopped playing it I got it not too long ago because I thought it was going to be just like halo 4 but this halo reopened my eyes to how amazing the halo series really is. They brought back the BR and they beefed up the DMR. And you can play with halo 2 weapons too. Honestly it's just a personal choice and preference but halo 5 is one of the best halos ever made in my opinion, I know i know it will never compare to Halo one or halo 3 but it's still a great bit of fun and most of the games I'm paired up with are nail biters coming down to the last couple kills to determine the game. Games like that make you play better and make the real talented players step up I love that. Again it is all personal preference tho if you don't like it then fine go play crucible with your last word and be content lol I'm just pulling your leg lol

I find a match in less than a minute, even for warzone, everytime so...

MCC put it on life support. H5 killed it.

It's dead not dying.

*wipes tear from eye* Halo is dead

2 RespuestasWell sales wise yes the series has been declining in sales for awhile now

4 RespuestasHalo isn't dying. IT's actually gotten better to me. 343 had the balls to add shit like sprinting and character voices that I wanted since the beginning! Original Halo multiplayer is unplayable for me because there is no sprinting (that and it's broken half the time but that's a different story). The multiplayer in Halo 4 was awesome and Halo 5 is the best multiplayer I've ever played. Halo 5 perfected Halo's gameplay. Story wise, Halo 4 was one of my favorites. Halo 5 is a bit underwhelming in terms of story but I was also unfamiliar with the EU. Now I've seen 3 Halo movies that reveal more backstory and I'm restarting it today and I'm already liking it more now that I have more insight. Either way it's my favorite Halo to PLAY. Halo 2 is my favorite in terms of story. 343 is doing lots of good but removing dual wielding and making underwhelming soundtracks (although Halo 5's is much better than 4's and I like it a lot) was just an insult. Then again, dual wielding would be a bitch in multiplayer so I'm half grateful half hateful Halo 3 the pinnacle? Huh, Halo 2 was much better. Halo 3 was beyond short and had fewer cutscenes and dialogue compared to Halo 2 which progressed the story much slower than Halo 2. Halo 3 was basically the final third of Halo 2. It's as if they cut 1/3 of Halo 2 and made it years later. I didn't understand the whole thing the Gravemind did to Cortana. It was vague about that. Wasn't the biggest fan of Halo 3. It was good and had plenty of great moments but it was inferior to Halo 2. Better than CE (of course what isn't better than CE). For me it goes : Halo2>Halo4>Halo5>HaloODST>Halo3 & Reach (TIE)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>CE
-
1 RespuestaTo be honest I feel like Halo 5's population is most reminiscent of the Halo CE/2/3 era than anything else. Halo 4 and MCC's population tanked hard in the first 2 weeks of release, sure, but Halo 5 is a rock solid title. The 343 bashers aren't exclusive to 343 industries either, 10 years ago there was no shortage of people out to smear Bungie, and the forum population looked a lot like the Desticles too.

1 RespuestaEditado por Auttumnnnn: 5/5/2016 5:52:48 AMI would like to point you all to Gomly1980's post. He speaks more truth than anyone else here.
I appreciate Halo 5 for what it is and enjoy the game. I applaud 343 Industries for their contributions to the series, and shall continue to do so unless my mind is ever changed.
3 RespuestasHalo 5 wasn't successful, IT'S BEING OUTSOLD BY TITANFALL, TITANFALL!

1 RespuestaI spent the most time and had the most fun in Halo Reach, mostly because of the excellent forge mode and custom game support. I was really excited for Halo 4 because I thought it could only improve, but I was dead wrong. Forge mode was gutted, and as a result, so were custom games. There were no large scale maps like forgeworld. There was no firefight. The campaign was a muddled cluster-blam!-, and was way to easy on Legendary. I did not buy Halo 5, and I won't buy Halo 6. Halo Online is more than enough to sustain me for the foreseeable future.
-
Yes, look at the sales figures. Sells less and less every year.

36 RespuestasWell the last Halo game came out in 2010 so you tell me.
