I lost my pvp touch. I used to have it in year 1. Now it's gone

I used to be average at best in year 1 pvp. Now that this sbmm is implimented I'm stressing more then I need to. I never raged this much in pvp then now. It is rediculous. I lost my grove, like Emperors grove and now struggling to enjoy pvp again. I dunno what happened, I used to love pvp in year 1, now I lost it. Is there any way to get that mojo grove back again? Also I need tips for how not to get salty. Any jazz music recommendations to listen to calm my nerves? I miss Year one pvp. Edit* Thank you everyone for the positive feedback. I feel much better now and have some ideas on playstyles I'd like to try in the future. Fusion rifles seem fun again so I might try some fun loadouts. Cheers everyone for the advice! :)

  • Year 2 Destiny PVP Guide: 1. Learn to love the lag. Can't seem to get that headshot on that one guy? Shoot to the left or right of him and down or up a little depending on wind conditions and you'll be right on the money. See that guy in the distance? There's a 55.04% chance that he's right in front of you. Just shoot at him and see what happens. 2. Use a Whorelock. Preferably sunsinger with Sunbreakers so you get double the pleasure of burn grenades that will keep those guardian's burning until you can find them on radar and shoot the wall of the corner they're hiding behind (please see "1." for lag reference. 3. Go out and get a super soaker, I mean bullet hose, I mean El Doctríne De Muerte...(Google doctrine of passing). This weapon will make you think that you are invincible. Because you almost are. Against everything. And don't let that range stat fool you. Just refer to #1 and shoot at or around the target at any range for maximum impact. Simply hold R2 whilst walking around the maps and then aim at those guardians who pop up in front of you. You'll never run out of ammo. Trust me. 4. Do not stand near, next to, or around your teammates when playing solo. Skill Based Match Making will no doubt place you on a team of noobs. Upon inspection of your opposing team you will most likely see 5 Beetlebug emblems and a Hic Jacket/Pussycat. Your team will be sporting the new Cryptarch emblem and attempting to use 1000 Yard Stare because they haven't acquired a Longbow yet. They will die. A lot. You must flank alone in the hopes that 2 other Guardians on your team may see you and push with you. They will die, so be sure and get behind them to pot shot that guy who never seems to die himself. 5. This is somewhat in conjunction with #1, however slightly different. Always inspect the enemy. Why? Because undoubtedly the one or two guys who are red bar will be on the opposing team. They will not take appropriate damage. They will arrive in front of you without having actually walked up to you at all. They will always be #1 on their team. In order to spare yourself the inevitable headache and frustration, simply report them for bad connection whilst flying in to the match. You can even send a quick note to them using the message function before the match even begins. Just to let them know how in touch you are with the game. 6. This is the final, yet possibly the most important skill to master. Always. ALWAYS. Tea bag your opponent. Always. I hope this has helped you bear the weight of the crucible. Good luck Guardians.

        • One more thing then I promise I'll shut up lol. Try checking out some YouTube videos for crucible tips during your downtime. It's probably not anything groundbreaking but it definitely helps you knock the rust off and be less sloppy. My personal favorite is TrueVanguard. Whether or not you think he's the best skill wise, I personally just like his presentation and personality (he's a big plan c fan and has some great footage of how awesome it is). But there's tons of others. Mtashed has a whole "crucible school" series with every topic you could think of that are pretty helpful. Just when you have downtime check one out here and there. I found myself planning on watching a couple and ended up watching a ton, if for no other reason just to see some really good players do stuff that to an average player like me is crazy. Alright that's all I got. Hope it helps, it's all coming from an average player that was in the same boat and now I'm enjoying PvP more than ever before.

                  • I just get super frustrated when everything is working as it's supposed to and I start to think im getting pretty good. Then the very next match, in the same lobby, nothing works right! Feels like you get shot before they fully come out, random shots or bursts somehow not landing, trip mines not doing any damage or not going off when they clearly walked right past it, throwing knives and golden gun shots going thru people, just feeling almost like one step behind in every engagement. Then you check the roster and everyone's green? Its so weird. Then the next match I'm winning all my engagements and everything feels good. It's almost like at the beginning of the match it's decided which team is gonna get the general lag advantage lol. Idk maybe there's something I'm not seeing. It's just so frustrating because I've seen what it's supposed to feel like when all my equipments working correctly. If it was -blam!-ed up all the time I probably wouldn't care as much. But yeah I recently came back too and struggled because I was trying to complete the crucible quest. Needed 6+ HC kills 4 times and for someone who hasn't used a HC since year 1, it wasn't working out too kindly. Once I started using the "meta" archetypes (notice archetypes not weapons) it became much more enjoyable. Crucible is in a good place because within the viable archetypes of weapons, there's at least 1 for every weapon type, and within each type there's multiple options. Even fusion rifles feel good again which is my favorite part. The viable archetypes are: AR: low impact, high rof (doctrine, arminius d, soulstealers claw) OR medium impact, slightly less rof, more range (haakons hatchet, paleocontact, New monarchy has one) PR: generally the lower impact, higher rof (nirwens, hawksaw, pdx 45, villainy, aegis of the reef I thought was pretty good) but the higher impact ones like lyudmila can still compete. Can't go wrong with a pulse rifle. HC: not sure there's different archetypes but anything with good stability and range. Handcanons are in a pretty good spot now. (hawkmoon, TLW, thorn for reg crucible, for legendaries I've been rocking finalas peril, lord high fixers good, omolon ones are pretty accurate I've heard) SR: same thing here, all about rolls and preference but most people use the MIDA/Hung Jury archetype (4 head shots), suros 43 is good, hand of judgement, lethe noblesse, badger ccl, treads on stars is under used but good. Lots of good options for scouts. Might be the best option for someone trying to get back in the swing of things because you can keep out of the chaos of close quarters combat. Holy shit that's a lot text. Sorry about that, didn't mean to ramble. TLDR: try using the meta archetypes, probably a scout or pulse so you can get acclimated to the new scene from a distance.

If you don't have one of the God roll meta types, don't be afraid to use all the equipment at your disposal. I was getting frustrated cuz I couldn't get kills with anything but knives and trip mines but they're fun as hell and everyone uses them just as much. The weapon kills come back eventually. I say equipment because I (and from your name assume you do as well?) main gunslinger and it seems like the right word for throwing knives and trip mines. As far as not gettin salty... Its gonna happen. Sometimes you just gotta take a break. I find myself starting off strong but inevitably after a couple hours you just gotta stop. You start going on auto pilot and getting sloppy. All the best players say it's better to play smaller sessions every day than to grind for 8 hours at a time.
