Editado por DarthBrando: 4/29/2016 4:10:12 PMnot really; thanx to the war on terror and the "over stocked" status of volunteering/enlisting; in order to be in the military by physical fitness standards as of 2009 for US Army: in actual military service (as in not ROTC/BCT/AIT but active duty) you must maintain body fat percentage of less than 21% for males less than 23% for females, run 2 miles in LESS than 15 min, 30 seconds for 18-21 year old males on the AFPT test a minimum score (in each event) of 50 is bare minimum reqs for BCT/AIT on active duty in 2009-2012 the reqs (in each event) for staying in military were score of 60 the requirements may have changed since here is a link with i believe current reqs: http://www.wiu.edu/coehs/military_science/physical_training/APFT%20Standards.htm heres body fat standards current; http://www.apft-standards.com/malebodyfat.html so to actually serve on active duty you MUST HAVE AND MAINTAIN a physical fitness standard that only THREE TO FIVE PERCENT of US population have. so yea its a pretty high bar athletically and stress wise to actually be eligible to serve. other wise you get discharged for PT failure or being too fat.(if you fail to maintain or can not meet those standards)

5 RespuestasIf college becomes free, you will need a college degree to work in fast food.
-
If college becomes free, college will be like a high school education and jobs that require a college degree would be like jobs for high school students now
-
7 RespuestasI joined the military knowing well enough that I had enough scholarships and money from working to afford college. I did it because I wanted to. That's the beauty of a volunteer military. You assume that most people join the military based on benefits. Let me tell you something, I wouldn't die for money. I never signed my life away for 'free' shit. You people demonize free education and healthcare, yet turn a blind eye to corporate welfare for corporations that pay slave wages and outsource jobs to other countries.
-
41 RespuestasI said this elsewhere... The UK has free healthcare, education up to university (but ours is more specialist) and we have less tax. The GBP is one of the strongest currencies in the world and America is trailing... Far behind. Yes, you could pull it off
-
Which will probably cause a draft then an outrage just like nom
-
Good. Then we can divert military spending to more important things.

61 RespuestasEditado por Vicex: 4/26/2016 1:34:30 PMYeah.. And I'll still be on the hook for the loans I had to take out to pay my own way through college because I'm not some whiny brat that wants to major in art history or some shit that can't justify going into it unless it's free because it will cost him/her too much because they can't get a job with such a shite degree. -blam!-ing Bernie. Such a dumbass. It's going to cost the country more in the long run than it's worth. The only reason kids back him is because they will get 'free' shit... Brought to you in full by people who worked their asses off to succeed in life rather than depending on a welfare state to just give it to them with no strings attached.

1 RespuestaFace it, Hillary has already won the primary
-
More people who get into sciences and maths and such= technological breakthroughs
-
2 RespuestasIf college becomes free because of Bernie, taxes are going to go through the roof.
-
1 RespuestaCollege is already free... If you're black.
Still doesn't encourage them to go.
All of our presidential candidates are completely idiotic.

1 RespuestaThere are still admission requirements in colleges. And they might even become stricter to prevent over flow. It's not free for all who apply, it's free for those who are qualified for acceptance.
-
Bernie won't win so it looks like you're going to have to enlist.
-
Probably true. Of course there are plenty of people who would still enlist simply for the other perks but it will benefit so many people to have access to greater education. Think about kids in terrible neighborhoods who want to get out of their situation that will actually have an opportunity to do so. There are hundreds of thousands of people (also adults) who will benefit greatly from this. Not only this but there are also many other programs Bernie is proposing that will benefit Americans.

2 RespuestasAs a Bernie supporter, I dont know why most of his supporters genuinely think he's gonna win the nomination. Sure, he says "music to our ears" and what not, but I just dont see him getting the nomination. There has been many presidential elections where both candidates have gotten about the same number of votes on the popular vote, but the electoral votes for one candidate was like triple the other. Adding on to the fact that Hilary has got political clout because of Bill, along with her experience, I just genuinely can't see Bernie getting nominated.

Also it's gonna raise taxes way to much

5 RespuestasEditado por JetLife: 4/26/2016 4:13:19 PMNo it won't. Trust me. There's more to it than that. Being in the military is like living life in easy mode.. That is until you have to deploy and fight for your life

1 Respuesta *puts on an antic disposition* That's a good thing.

It will be harder to get a job

66 RespuestasEditado por John Cena: 4/26/2016 3:22:08 PMCollege becomes free and degrees go down in value. Better learn how to weld with that Masters. Edit: People will always join the military no matter what. Too many great perks to pass up.
