Does anyone know if gaming laptops are dependable? I'm switching from consoles as my main platform this year. I would prefer to use a laptop. But if a desktop is better then I'll go that route. Thanks for the help.

They're bad. About 3 times the price of a desktop, usually have poor build quality, and almost always have a problem with heat.

Definitely use a desktop, trust me. It's so so much better in basically everyway

Editado por Neilius Maximus: 4/24/2016 7:35:13 PMDesktops are always easier to upgrade and normally half the price of laptops. Laptops generally are easier to overheat as well. Unless you travel a lot you should definitely get a PC.

Desktops are definitely better. Laptops are more expensive but they are mobile. If you want a desktop then build one but if you want a laptop Lenovo Y series is the best you can get for a good price.

2 RespuestasBuilding a desktop will always be better. The problem with a laptop is that after a few years it will be significantly dated with no real way of upgrading it. This is because that since it is a portable device the CPU and GPU must have significantly lower power draw, which also means that it will also be significantly weaker than its desktop counterpart. Gaming laptops also really aren't very good for mobility because you'll be lucky to get an hour out of the battery. Then there is also the price to performance. With a laptop you're looking at spending at least $1000 to get enough performance to run games to a desirable acceptable level, whereas a desktop with the same performance will run you half as much; and a $1000 desktop is going to be exponentially faster and able to drive games significantly better. Something like this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JQFY6h is a somewhat modest desktop build, but it will absolutely run circles around any entry level laptop for half the price. And if you're willing to spend a little over $1000 on a desktop like you would have to with a laptop, you could build something like this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rjP7D3 that will absolutely crush anything you throw at it.

I have a gaming laptop. However I keep it plugged in during use. That being said it's 2 years old and can run games coming out now easily. Then again, it was a $2700 gaming laptop, so it should last a few more years.

5 RespuestasI heard they can be loud and have no battery life, I would just go with a desktop tbh.

6 RespuestasMy wife has one, she loves it. Needs to be plugged in though, battery doesn't last for shit. She has a cooling platform for it too, sometimes it runs a bit hot. I prefer my desktop.

I have a Razer laptop. They get the job done, but while you're playing games it needs to be plugged in. Desktops will be a little more powerful, but if you're like me and travel frequently, laptop all the way.
