I understand the want for Skill-Based MM and admire your commitment to trying to perfect it, but.. here's the thing.
It will never work as is. There is no version, no tweak to the algorithm, no amount of rebalancing or number of added server power that will make it work when you try to pull people with extremely different latency, Upstream rates, ping and packet loss together based solely on their K/D or W/L.
Make it Skill-Based within Connection-Based, or just drop it and make it Connection-Based. The skill consideration is entirely defeated when you're often fighting opponents that can't be hit or that teleport.

Yeah. Match according to connection, then in the lobby adjust teams according to skill. 4 or more ( or 3 in 3-3) will match other parties if available.
-
If everyone talked to Bungie the way you do, this place would be great.

I am often red barring but I have never once lagged out and killed people through a wall or not died from shotguns to the face, I have the best internet connection for the area that I live in and the game works perfectly fine for me, you cant blame everything on the red bars because it clearly isn't just red bars that cause the problems some people just want to blame the fact that they suck on people with a poor connection, not everyone is lucky enough to get perfect internet speeds In their home, just because I have a poor connection doesn't mean I am good at PvP, no doubt youll go check my Crucible K/D anyways LEAVE MATCHMAKING AS IT IS
-
Editado por Aulakauss: 4/21/2016 7:10:19 PMOf course some people will blame their suckage on the lag.. or their controller.. or their console.. or the servers.. or their gun.. you get the point. However, the fact remains that the amount of errors with hit registration and reports of unkillables or teleporting/disappearing players has spiked since SBMM was implemented in full. I think my sightings are much slimmer than most people seem to be reporting, and for that, I feel lucky. Still, I've been seeing more since the switch. ..and no, I'm not going to check your K/D. If you're having fun, I'm happy for ya. After all, that's the point of a video game, innit? I'm just saying that a lot of peoples' enjoyment has been badly affected by the matchmaking change.

People like you are the reason this game sucks
-
and people like you are the reason there's a bad community in the game ;)
-
It just looks like you are a good shot from your view. From our view you are in a bunker, handcuffed, and watching Oprah will make pinpoint head shots. And yes I do suck at pvp but I don't get the bad connection booster like you.
-
bad connection booster meaning?? I die more times than I get kills I don't use stupid snipers or shotguns I use a side arm and run around like a lunatic often ending up with 5/15 k/D so stop being too competitive and always having to win its a GAME aren't they supposed to be played for fun
-
You obviously haven't experienced the full effect of sbmm... When it takes you 2+ minutes to find a game that isn't even full and the other players span the globe with their locations. Meanwhile my wife can get in to a game within 30 seconds with people from mostly the east coast of the US
-
well I don't play PvP that often I do my trials bounties and IB when that's out other than that I prefer strikes, I have never gone flawless in trials, never had more than 5 wins in fact so you cant blame the lag
-
Oh so you know how your red bar character acts on screen to the others you are playing with. Makes perfect sense...
-
my red bar character being dead half of the time nobody has anyone complained about my red bar and im not always red barring, id say 80% of the time I have an orange bar, but it isn't my fault that I have a 3mb/s connection speed maybe stop complaining about match making and lag and instead focusing on playing the game for fun if PvP lags why don't you go do a strike, or go play some missions, 50% of the game is PvE
-
Beaten PVE so no point in running the same boring strikes/patrols over and over. I have the weapons I enjoy, so no grinding for packages necessary (especially with vendor God rolls thanks Bungie!). Light level damage output is so minuscule, I'm not penalized at 320 so there is no point grinding to 335. I'll just continue going to the lighthouse every week and doing the occasional POE until I'm max. As for no one complains to you about your red bar, I don't waste my time typing them a message. If I'm shooting at someone and they are teleporting and not taking damage they instantly get a cheating and connectivity report and hopefully Bungie/Xbox live punishes them.
-
if someone shoots at me I take damage and I die I have never once come against someone shooting me and not taken any damage but now you mentioned xbox im not surprised that you have laggers, after all it is a Microsoft product, maybe try playing it on a different console ;)
-
Congrats you don't get a report, but you obviously have no idea how bad red bars are to face. I will put a clip or two into a red bar, never see damage register, all of a sudden die, then in my death screen I see the red bar die from me a full 2-3 seconds later. And you are so right. It's Microsofts fault that Bungie doesn't have dedicated servers and can't get matchmaking right across all platforms. It's Microsofts fault PS players are seeing the same shit in the Crucible.
-
I have had that happen to me before probably why the most medals I have are the post mortem one, it does get frustrating but I usually just blame it on my own connection for example last weekend during trials I unloaded a full clip of my hand cannon ( its equipped on hunter) into the other guys body and he kills me with melee after taking all 12 shots Microsoft products are easier to exploit, im not blaming Microsoft for all the problems but I rarely see It happen on playstation I wasn't around with the CBMM and only recently started playing (3 Months Ago) but SBMM does seem perfectly fine sometimes I get annihilated and sometimes I end up doing quite well, it has nothing to do with my connection there are other issues that also contribute to the overall problem

Well said!
-
I agree connection beats skill
-
First problem is the peer to peer system, sbmm will never work properly as is.

Bumping for truth.
