The Doctrine remains the most usable Auto Rifle in crucible right now.
Part of me wants say, about time the bullet hose Auto Rifles were good, but the realist in me wants to explain why Automatics are supposed to have a typically slower time to kill, and why Doctrine's is too fast for it's archetype.
Automatic weapons are the the easiest primary weapons to use inherently in Destiny (overall). Automatic weapons by design have low skill ceiling and skill gaps. Their lack of Precision is made up its ease of use, and ability to kill fairly easily with body shots alone.
The Doctrine embodies this. Headshots help but it ultimately will tear you apart with body shots alone. The Doctrine is a VERY easy gun to use, were non precision shots make little difference.
Weapons like pulses and Scouts suffer much more from body shots, Hand Cannons are like Auto Rifles in not relying heavily on Headshots, but they have less ease of use due to their recoil and firerate.
An effective "Nerf" for DoP Auto Rifles would be lowering their body shot damage in crucible by 1-2 points but keeping their current headshot damage. This increases their skill gap and will slow down the kill time for non precision shots, which nerfs its effective range too, requiring more headshots at range, which would be hard for this auto rifle.
