Low-profile, lone-wolves, new and casual players finally get a chance to feel rewarded.

Do I really need to elaborate on this? You can just stay at the Cosmodrome, move between your spawning ground and the two other areas - one to the left - other to the right. (I don't use the names of these areas on purpose, just to focus on the idea of "casual" no-know-it-all gamer). And all you need to do, is play the local mini quests (all of them) and the daily bounties. And then rinse and repeat. Move to another planet if necessary like Venus or Mars or the Moon, (if enemy-specific daily bounties are involved). In the meantime, do the ridiculous public events that will fall and the series of "mystery" 3-step quests that also pop up when you've finished the 3 in the area. Have your 3 of Coins popped all the time and kill the skull yellow-bar bad guy when the area is polluted with taken and if other players happen to be around (or do it yourself if you feel up to it). Pay a visit to the Dreadnaught, stay at the spawning area and do the local mini-quests while farming wormspores and chests and killing enemies to charge your occasional runes. Visit the area with the Ultra Night (YES, even you, the casual noob know where this is), and kill him with a 3 of coins popped. Pay a visit to the Court of Oryx area, see if others are around, and jump in. Rinse and repeat. Play the daily crucible and the weekly crucible and any other match-making shit that you feel up to like strikes or level 41 Elders. Or, if you are cool and patient enough, do the Elders Challenge solo - up to where you can. At the end of the day, after no more than 2 or 3 hours of relaxing, lazy, casual, smoke-or-drink-on-the-side, no-mic, no-headphones-bucket-on-you-head gaming, while talking to your wife or to your guests, eating, playing with your kids, no-holding-from-the-loo for too long and not having sweaty palms, you get to be one or even two lights higher and with a bunch of strange coins and motes in your inventory. And the rest of the Destiny world with the experts, the oPs and the professionals, remains untouched and still filled with the hype and the frenzy for the 335 hard-mode kicking-ass play style. Only this time, you, my dear Casual or lone-wolf player, have a place in Destiny's world without feeling an outsider. April's update is an UPGRADE. To be enjoyed long enough by the casuals and to be burned-out in a jiffy by the pros. At the end of the day, It's a matter of choice and a matter of taste. Now, the menu has a plate for everyone.

  • Some lone wolves work harder than your "professionals", because they don't rely on teammates to accomplish the objective. They have only themselves and their own skill and perseverance to fight the darkness. Do they not deserve their chance to become legend? Answer: yes. Yes they do. Do they deserve to be labelled as "noobs" and "casuals" who have no friends because of their solitary preferences? No. No they don't.

    • I always play lone-wolf, I never use my mic.. I still do well enough in group activities to not need any mic. I just do what people tell me to do, even if it's my first time doing it. Like the king's fall raid. "Rotate left", "Hold mid", "Take the second plate", etc. It's pretty laughable in my opinion how Destiny is all about meeting random people, teaming up, then doing strikes and such together. Then in comes the raids and everything suddenly becomes elitist nonsense where people basically try to make the people more than capable of doing a raid feel bad about their slightly lower light level. I mean, where do you expect a 310 light level to get their light level up to 335? It's not like they'll get 335 by just grinding PoE over and over, they're more than likely going to be stuck at 310 if they just do what they'd normally do. If you let them in to the raid, it'll help them reach 335 by getting the raid gear. It's one of maybe three possible ways to reach 335, so they don't have a lot of options aside from going in to the raids where they will be challenged, it will be hard, but isn't that the point of the raids? High risk, high reward? Bungie need to stop trying to make these ridiculous raids, where you need to play twister blindfolded to proceed. They made a game for casuals, and they somehow expect them to memorize a dictionary just to finish one stinking event. Spend more time on the story, less time on raids involving twister, hide-and-seek, and dancing foxtrot. Silly games in a raid won't make the game more fun. A good story would be more fun. But looking at the scripts you write, "That wizard came from the moon" and "FINGERTIPS AT THE SURFACE OF MY EYES" specifically, it's seeming more and more like you make bad scripts and then blame the voice actors. ... So yeah, 0/10, not enough Dinklebot

I like how people who obviously never play solo claim that solo players now are able to reach max level - as if there are a ton of paths. There is ONE strict solo path: To grind ultras on patrol and hope that you get exotic engrams. That's it. Every other path requires that you either play with other people, which isnt a solo path, or solo content that was intended for more than one player. On a different note, there's this idea going around that people play solo because they can't find anyone to play with. That's probably only true for a minority. For me it's that I don't want to have someone in my ear after a day at work, I don't won't to rely on other peoples schedules and I don't want to fill my friendlist with a bunch of people I hardly know just so that someone will be on at all my wonky hours - at that point it's just becomes a more convenient form of #LFG.. And yeah, if you only solo there's really no need to get better gear BUT some form of sense of progression is needed and since gear usually is the go-to for progression......

          • Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm in no rush to crush through the new content. I paid too much for the PS4 and game to 'hurry up and wait'. To quote Dan Aykroyd in Tommy Boy, "Savor the flavor..."

          • my friend... you must be my twin brother from another mother. i agree wholeheartedly BUT... there is more that bungie can still do for the dedicated Vanguard mercenary. I haven't yet but will acknowledge this update that Bungie has provided us. It does in fact better satisfy the soloist. but there is more that can be done. If Bungie really wanted more gameplay from us they would adjust modifiers for solo activities across the board for equal reward. Sure we can run solo missions. but honestly. when was the last time we ran a mission for the fun of it. The objective for the lone wolf is strikes, solo attempts at nightfall, solo COE, POE, Iron Banner, and SLR. and NONE of WHICH will give the dedicated solo Guardian the coveted raid, or exclusive pvp gear. I am not saying i haven't participated in part of a raid or trails, but i dont run with others usually. Its not my preference. I would just like equal opportunity to gain coveted gear and light by my own skill. NOT just because there was a new DLC or update to download. I love this game but honestly getting the light and weapon ugrade at DLC/update time is like giving someone enough money to go buy something you know they just raised the price on. .. maybe that isn't a good analogy but i think you understand what i am saying. I recommend more soloist speak up. Thanks OP for doing that.

          • The only thing that is still annoying to Mr is that there are still crucible bounties that require a fireteam. The weekly bounty is the most annoying one. None of my friends like to play crucible, and I'm not going on lfg to play with someone for 5 games only. I wish they would do away with all those bounties .

            • Need 5 for fresh hardmode mode raid. *Must be over 330 *A lot of completions over (40) I have 88. Scrubs will be booted. No remorse for boots. 2 deaths in a row is instant boot. You're all replaceable by people who are 5x better than you. Call me what you will just don't need to mess around for 3 hours cause ur scrub ass can't stay alive. This has been out for 7 months. Send me Hate if you will I'll laugh and finish the raid in 40 min. This is my requirements for the raid now cause of the update. Put it up and did 2 took an hour and one just under 40 min.

              • Great post, been a lone wolf from the beginning. I don't have the patience or time for raids. It's nice to get rewarded for faction, crucible, vanguard etc.. rank ups finally. Never been in a rush to max light because what's to do after that? This update was a good thing for all of us.

                • I am a lone wolf and i think it's a shame i can't participate in the best parts of Destiny without grinding for a team. Just for the record: i got about 400 total strangers in my so called PS4 "friends" list so yes i tried. I really love the crucibles and enjoy Iron Banner each time it comes around, but i am missing out on TOO because it would take me hours to find a team and i actually have a life. And yes, i don't care about level 335, it will not change my life very dramaticly. But i wouldn;t mind playing Destiny a bit more if matchmaking was around.

                • The reason to raid shouldn't be as the only (PvE) way to reach max light - it should be because the armour and weapons perform well, look great and have some prestige. Not try the same thing over and over to hopefully get crap looking (VoG gear excluded that stuff was awesome), perk average (in most cases) uninfusable junk, light level should be attainable to those that don't have 4 hours to play uninterrupted by real life. The only reason to raid should be for the experience, and the prestige/usefulness of the loot not the light level. Just my two pennies as someone with a real life.

                • If COE had matchmaking it would be even better. Still a pain having to message 10 people to get into a team. Sometimes I can get one right away sometimes I just give up. There is no reason why this activity should require you to find a team. Its easy and doesn't require comunication.

So I hope they keep it up but I wish they would turn off that casualty in pvp because right now they nerfed skilled players and allowed the most casual players be the winners no matter how good you are.
