19 RespuestasRaised a Catholic but as I've grown up I've slowly but surely have been believing less and less. I see several fallacies in the faith, like banning people from doing x or encouraging people to do y. Parts of it seem to be just meant for controlling the uneducated or immoral, like how God can instantly forgive people like nothing. Parts of it just don't make any sense. I guess I'm sort of a 'fringe Catholic'. There are some parts of the faith that do seem rational. And deep down, I guess I am a bit afraid of the unknown, and I'm just hoping that there is a God. It doesn't hurt to be a decent person though. I guess I'll know when I die?

1 RespuestaI don't know..maybe because people want to believe in something greater ..that there is meaning behind everything...I have a few friends who don't believe, not atheists..they just don't believe...I can't make them understand why...but it's good to know there is something up there..its like an ideal...it makes you feel more safe in a way...as one guy said in this post....it can't be described so easy as you might think...
oh well back to darksouls we go
The red God is the truth. He is red and is a god. Why would you not worship a color god?
-
There really is no point to this "God or no God argument". For this reason: religion is illogical belief, science is logical. A person who thinks logically cannot convince an illogical person to agree with them, and vice versa.
-
I'm a proof type of guy. I need proof. Science provides proof, when religion provides hardly any. Science also often contradicts Christianity.

2 RespuestasIf we evolved from microorganisms, where did they come from? Because lifeless matter can't evolve, and the chain of evolution has to start somewhere. Not making a point, this is a legitimate question

I don't.

11 RespuestasBecause it's only logical. There has to be someone who created us. God created us. He loves everyone very much and more than you can imagine. :)

I personally don't believe that evolution or any other explanation for our existence could happen without the guidance of a higher power. Something beyond our physical realm that we can observe. For me, that is God. The Christian God. Also, without a god of some sort, nothing should exist at all. The lowest entropy of the universe would be nothing existing at all, while anything existing would be the most negative entropy could ever be. Think about it. There is nothing less spontaneous than the existence of anything. In order for to cause a non spontaneous reaction to occur, something else must take place (addition of energy, lower/raising temperature etc.) I believe that God is what cause our universe to happen.
please no hate. I didn't come here to argue or even debate with anyone. OP asked and I answered as best as I could in my currently sleep deprived state
5 RespuestasIt became the most logical outcome to me. I've researched science and theology, and the belief in God proved the most logical to me. The idea that we're all here by some form of explosion and dust and all species evolving from some bacteria or whatever just doesn't sit right with me. Atheist can call it a lie all they want but it won't change my belief.

God seems to be the most plausible explanation for the universe, life, and whatnot. I've studied both sides of the equation, and belief in God seems better than non belief. If I'm wrong about my belief, and there is no life after death (which I strongly believe there is) then it won't really matter, it's not like I could regret my decision to not believe anyway.
-
I lean more towards a higher power because everything seems way too complicated to happen by chance. If I'm wrong, it's not that big of a deal because the Bible offers good teachings to live by

Because the Flying Spaghetti Monster loves us all.

6 RespuestasWell, to a degree, my "God" is death. I mean that in the sense that, death is (arguably) the most universal factor in relation to organic life. We fear it, we're mystified by it, we study it, it's integral to all known life on earth since it's (at this point in time) an inevitability. It's a central theme in both human psychology and human sociology, and the waves of its impact can be felt and seen in nearly every faucet of our existence. From as far back as I can recall, it fascinated me deeply. I spent much time in thought to consider it from perspectives ranging from philosophical and spiritual, to empirical and biological. And as a result, i've gained a deep sense of respect and attachment to it. I don't worship it in the sense that it's something I wish to inflict on others, but I do in the sense that I treat it as sacred, as well as I do the various practices associated with it. Now, all that being said, I absolutely do see the value in life, and all of the vivid experiences and knowledge that can be gained in the living world. I hope my time on this earth is reasonably long and prosperous, but I just find a level of comfort and meaning in death that runs quite deeply, and I accept wholeheartedly as a part of all of that which composes "me". And this is the first time i've actually tried to verbally explain all of this, so I hope i've conveyed my meaning adequately. If by chance i've caused any confusion or made any miscommunication, please feel free to point it out. I don't mind at all.
