Oh I have a very unpopulair opinion on that, so here it comes.
Real gamers play singleplayer games, if you buy and play games mostly for competitive online play then you are a real casual and a blight to the games industry.
So I said it.

In a way I guess you're right. With the Cod/Battlefield scene you can jump on, play a few matches then call it quits and you haven't lost or gained anything it was just a time waster and you can jump on and do the exact same thing tomorrow. Seems pretty casual.
-
That is exactly what I mean, you said it better than I did.
-
Single player gaming is easy. Online gaming actually takes skill and teamwork.
-
Nope it is not. Depend on your skill and that of your opponents, and teamplay is only an issue when you go in with friends otherwise everybody does what the hell they want. Because they are all casuals.
Depend on your skill and that of your opponents, and teamplay is only an issue when you go in with friends otherwise everybody does what the hell they want. Because they are all casuals.
I dare you to try playing competitively. You won't stand a chance. Especially with your crap K/D.

Editado por weirdboy99: 4/14/2016 2:30:15 PMHaha you pathetic casual. I think it should be pretty clear by now that I don't give a -blam!- about PvP so looking at my K/D is pointless and this behaviour is exactly why I called it a blight to gaming. Dumb -blam!-.
-
I'm simply a better gamer than you by every definition.
-
Hmm ok, whatever you say. You want a cookie now?
-
Nah. I just wish casualtards like you would be banned off the forums.
-
Editado por weirdboy99: 4/14/2016 2:45:01 PMI see only one casual here and it's a tryhard wannabee PvP Destiny player, and PvP is what killed the part of Destiny that could have been good so you are even worse than a normal casual. Why don't you go back to #Destiny you filthy casual.
-
I have 2000 hours on Destiny, I have a 1.8 K/D, I'm top 50 in the world for Rumble and I am an experienced raider. You sir, are wrong by every definition.
-
That doesn't say anything. Because Destiny is not a hard game. Also around 15 years ago I was 8th place on the Quake Champions league, 8th out of around 4M players. Destiny..lol,why not play an actual good competitive game like Tribes. Oh wait that died because it wasn't more like CoD.
-
It may be relatively easy but it takes more skill than CoD. Being a top 1% player in any game is impressive.
-
What about a game like Elite Dangerous that somehow mashes the two together?
-
That is a space simulator that is as hardcore as it gets. I am talking about the Cods and Battlefields, the Destiny's and Division's.
-
And pokemon ;)
-
Is there any reasons behind this opinion?
-
Yes there is, but pissing of casuals that think they are actual gamers is a plus. You just have to look at the sales figures, which games sell the most in the majority of cases? Call Off Duty. Battlefield. EA sportsgames. All competitive games, some have a singleplayer component but its hardly the reason to buy them for. Then you have the Skyrims and Fallouts, dumbed down RPG's so the unwashed masses can enjoy them too. Then you have "real" core games like the Darksouls or Witcher 3's or even the Pokemons, gues which one's sold better. Bottomline if you don't like Pokemon you are a casual. 😜
-
Pokemon is hella casual, it also sells really well, and has pvp, by your logic it should be hella casual... although it does have hidden depth in iv training and stuff. It depends on how you play it, not how many casuals play it... Dank souls has a steep learning curve, but that doesn't make it a hardcore game imo. In fact after the learning curve it becomes incredibly easy. Pokemon has very little initial learning curve, but that doesn't automatically make it casual either imo. It has a hidden layer in Pokemon stats, that only hard core Pokemon players take advantage of for pvp. I play Pokemon casually, I pick the cool/cure looking Pokemon, I fight the gym leaders, beat the elite four, then call it good. I don't stat train, or go hard core in pvp. On the contrary there are some other games I've memorized by the back of my hand, I play them very hardcore. I take advantage of all the more hidden systems, and everything. Overall I'd say I'm hardcore I spend much more time then others in video games, and often dig deeper down into the game to play it too it's fullest, but there are some like Pokemon I play more casually for a fun break.

Editado por weirdboy99: 4/14/2016 8:42:43 AMThe right term would be accesible, its easy to pick up and play but it still has supriseingly deep gameplay mechanics. I have not played a Pokemon game for a few years, but I have spend many hours on red/blue gold/silver and I feel those games are a lot more than just childrens games. But to be on topic again you also have the Zelda's Metroids or early Halo's and even the Assasin Creeds and Farcry's. No matter how you like them those are IMO " core" games where as the CoD's Battlefields and Destiny's are for casuals. Why? Because they have forgone actual complexity for much simpler gameplay, its not a bad thing ofcourse but what I am trying to say is that if you primarily play these simplefied PvP focused games then you are a casual, because that is the demo those games are aimed at. Edit:Damn wall of text lol I almost forgot. Dark Souls and any other of those games are core games, not because of difficulty, that has never been the issue, but because of their complex and robust gameplay mechanics. Don't want to sound like a Souls hipster but I played DeS before it became populair and even though difficulty is now how they market the games it is actualy not that hard, a challenge sure but you can complete the game if you just use your brains and wits, you do not really need skill but that just speeds up the progress.

Praise the solrock! \[T]/

If a games good, it's good. Nuff said.
-
Ofcourse, and I don't hate competitive multiplayer in games, but there is a trend to focus way too much on it. For me as a core gamer easily playing 30 hours a week, a good core game includes a lengthy singleplayer component, that is what gaming should be about. If it also contains a good PvP mode than the better for it, but it should not be the focus. Unfortunatly casuals seem to think different.
