One thing that the bungie.net forums are missing is some kind of visible reputation system. I'm pretty active on reddit and your reputation on reddit matters on all subreddits and everyone can see the amount of karma you have at any time. With enough negative karma, you can actually be restricted from posting on certain subreddits. Here, your reputation doesn't matter so people can post whatever they want with no consequences and reputation isnt actually visible anywhere. I think a visible reputation system based on upvotes and downvotes might do a lot for this community (people might be more considerate of what they say if it had consequences on a visible reputation number). Edit: possibilities for implementation: +1 for a comment or post, +1 for a like, -1 for a dislike. Possible safeguards against downvote spamming - No more than -5 points per post/comment possible. Not possible for any single poster to give more than -X points to another poster (to avoid downvote spamming the same person). Note that these safeguards aren't even needed on most sites that have reputation systems, but they could be implemented as an additional security. Other information (already true, not a suggestion) : You account on bungie.net is always linked to a real account and you must own destiny to participate, so creating multiple accounts to spam downvote people would already be automatically limited by this.
