Detention for triggering
I just got I.S.S and detention for triggering someone online. Yeah...
Story
I was in an online game with a few friends of mine and a kid from school. We weren't friends or anything but we knew each other. So when she lost a match of pvp she got real mad. Like screaming in the mic mad. So I said as a joke "It's just a game. No need to cut yourself because of it." She said that's offensive and left the skype call.
Today I got called in the office and they said I was cyber-bullying her and told her to kill herself. I tried to say it was a joke but they wouldn't believe it. "Why would anyone Joke about that?" They asked. I had to apologize to her. Wtf...
Now I have detention for a week and I.S.S for 2 weeks.
So did I get what I deserved?

Got a meeting set up with my patents and the teacher to fix this

192 RespuestasSelf-harm isn't something to joke about, it's a very serious problem that a shockingly high percentage of people suffer from. Like r@pe, "jokes" about self-harm are [i]never[/i] okay. You don't know what sort of mental state she was in. Your "joke" may have "triggered" the urge to self-harm. You can't just make jokes about mental illness and assume that no one will be upset over it. It's very likely that this girl suffers from serious depression, bipolar, borderline, or something similar, and your comment sent her over the edge. You all may like to make fun of "triggering" because you think it's stupid or irrational when people get offended over things you say, but mental illness isn't rational. When you have a mental illness things that to most people seem insignificant can trigger an episode that spirals into deep depression, self-harm, or even suicide. [i][b]Joking about self-harm is never okay. Period. End of story.[/b][/i] You may have been the cause of someone's self-harm. Take your punishment and learn from this experience.

You didn't explain yourself well to your teacher! Joke was a bad choice of words! You should of explained how she was a sore loser & was over reacting & cyber bullying you! When you said "it's not the end of the world! Not like [b]IF[/b] you cut yourself" she simply misheard & over reacted even worse hence we're now having this conversation ;) (word play linguistics & misinterpretation are key to a solid defence) ;)
