TL;DR at bottom
Since so many people complain about firebolt grenades when paired with touch of flame and viking funeral (mostly viking funeral), why not just use a fix similar to one we've seen before. Since bungie didn't want to completely re-work a section of the Sunsinger subclass, they could do something similar to the Final Round/Luck in the Chamber fixes, which was just making the bonus damage apply to headshots only, why not just change Viking Funeral apply bonus burn time only when under the affects of Radiance. I know it may not be the easiest fix, but I think it could seriously cut down on the complaints of warlocks either running tier 5 discipline or Voidfang Vestments builds to have these grenades very often during matches, and now that you can throw more grenades during Radiance it seems pretty logical that a patch like this could satisfy most players.
I'm completely open to being called stupid, don't care too much what random people think of me. But if you have actual ideas, feel free to reply with your ideas.
TL;DR: Viking Funeral should only occur while under the benefits of Radiance to try and appeal to more of the player base.
Edit: I have no problem with super burn firebolt grenades, I always run them. Just tired of listening to people, so I thought this up.

Gets rid of all this "burns for too long" nonsense, and makes the Super worth using. For the people who don't understand the Sunsinger's abilities, Touch of Flame provides the Grenade's with DoT. Viking Funeral merely extends it, making it frustrating to those that are hit with it. However, changing Viking Funeral to the above proposal kills 2 birds with one stone. It's essentially a nerf and buff in one.

2 RespuestasA simple fix would have just been to simply speed up the DoT ticks and just reduce the amounts of ticks there are. Instead of leaving you out the fight for 14 seconds, tone it down to around 5-6 seconds worth of ticks still dealing the same damage however you ain't out the fight for so long. Think that would have been a simple change that would have worked perfectly fine, it doesn't nerf it into the floor rendering it usless like everything else Bungie touches does, plus its still a viable grenade to use and will still be good to use.

One of the main arguments about fire bolts is the fact that you're out of action for a good 10 seconds when you're hit by one. A simple solution to this would be to make the grenades deal the ticks of burn damage quicker.

1 RespuestaI was mad when they said they wouldn't fix it, because it is powerful. And I'm saying this as a person that mains a warlock. I changed my mind though after listening to the Planet Destiny podcast about this subject and they made a good point. Without ToF and VF perks, what else does sunsinger have? I mean radiance is one of 2 supers in the game that don't get a kill right away, the super is only as good as the person using it. The sunsinger is a subclass that has a strong neutral game, but really that's it. IMO as well people need to think about when something kills them a lot, they need think "is thing to powerful, or do I need to learn how to work around it". Learn how to avoid the firebolt or bait them to throw and waste it.

Honestly the combo is fine. Warlocks have a grenade that cripples health regen. Titans have a grenade that cripples supers, grenades and jump ability. Hunters have a combo that blinds, slows, and causes damage while trapped in the smoke. All of these have their own unique purposes.

Unfortunately the firebolt-VF-ToF combo is gonna be the only thing keeping the Sunsinger subclass as a viable option. Nerf the combo and the subclass just becomes weak.

Good idea, but I think it also should increase damage per tick, while decreasing number of ticks.
