Honest opinions about factions...

So, I'm back with some more honest opinions, this time about factions. I'm trying to be fair to every faction and looking for good and bad things with all of them. Again, it's just an opinion. But let's get started! First, we have the New Monarchy. Their plans look pretty solid, rebuilding the Golden Age by making laws, a king and order. Basically they want to bring humanity back to Pre-Collapse with a single ruler, the Monarch. Sounds good, no? Well, that part of the plan about uniting humanity is very nice, but the rest is a little worse. For example, when you ask how the New Monarchy is going to fight the Darkness, you get their often-used words and sayings of laws and order. So, they don't actually have a fighting plan. For me, it's mostly a Titan order, with ancient codes and medieval ways of approaching problems, which is maybe not that bad. I think that New Monarchy is a bit too focused on making plans and discussing politics. They should be living a little more in the present. However, the executor, the current laders or subleader of the faction, donates money to poor people. Which is not that hard when you're rich... Last but not least, I'd like to mention how they are like the Empire. Just change Monarch to Emperor and things become very scary... Next is Dead Orbit. They basically want to run. Their main thoughts are that humanity is wasting their time on Earth, and that humans should spread across the galaxy. They're right in one way, because in our current position, we're sitting ducks, which is obviously not good at all. But it has been tried before, during the Collapse. Just look at the Reef, and you know what I'm talking about. Okay, we have better ships right now, but the Darkness is just so strong. Just look at what Oryx did to the Awoken. There is not much left, isn't it? So, I don't think Dead Orbit is going the right way. Last is the Future War Cult. One of the most mysterious organisations in the solar system. They think war is unevitable, and that humanity should prepare for a HUGE war, bigger then all wars before. They could be right, because they possess a huge amount of knowledge. That's because they have some kind of time machine. The Cult did several tests with it, but all of the test persons went completely mad. Their interpretation was that humanity's future should be very bad then. They continued thinking, and in the end they concluded that war was the worst thing that could happen to humanity. But they could be completely wrong. Their ground codes are all about speculations, so yeah... Oh, I almost forgot to mention, they seem to have connections with the Exo Stranger and the Vex, many secrets and mysteries still surround the Cult Well, that's it folks! I know it's a long read, but I tried to shorten it. This is the basic version, the one with grimoire cards will I be not making, I repeat, NOT. I'm way too lazy for that. Oh, don't look at my character,I had to start all over again because Destiny crashed. At the moment, all my friends are only playing CoD so yeah. I'm -blam!-ed. But I did the VoG three times, CE like four times , after that my friends stopped playing and I just had to lay back to PoE. Also Destiny didn't give me Veteran's Tour. That's stupid for a Day One player...

  • I have said this before, but the whole faction dynamic in Destiny was a good idea followed by a total lack of support by Bungie. In year one, what exactly was the point? Other than access to some different weapons and gear why bother "pledging" to a faction? Since the faction inventory never changed why "stick" with one faction? Not to mention ranking up a faction in year one was an absolute chore. Now, year two made factions a tiny bit more relevant. You had to actually pledge to one and were given better avenues to rank them up. Even DO was used in the TTK story missions and FWC was part of a quest. Definitely a step in the right direction but the faction system still suffers from lackluster rewards, static inventory, and lack of relevance as a whole in the game "universe". How about "Faction Rankings" for Crucible? For Iron Banner? How about making faction gear more relevant in PvP with "special" perks designed around the "vision" of the faction? Let's make the factions more relevant than just an outlet for "cool" looking gear.

  • What about the Crucible Fire-team? The one in the lore that clears places out for the crucible maps?

        • I wish the future war cult had dead orbit's aesthetic. I love the FWC lore and philosophy, but their armor and shaders make you look like you're a sponsored by nascar

            • All three factions should govern together and act as a checks and balances system. Dead Orbit does a lot more actually. The leaders should propose to the people that if war is indeed inevitable Dead Orbit has a fleet of ships ready to leave and whomever wants to explore the galaxy and settle new worlds is welcome to do so. They should be seeding the Galaxy with new settlements and thus expand the lore some more.

              • I play each character as their own alter ego and the way you've just summed up the factions is damn near exactly why I choose each allegiance. I can sum each up roughly as follows: My exo titan is a strong back with a weak mind. He is capable of wiping out entire enemy units but has trouble figuring out which breakfast cereal he should eat. He needs the regime, the ordered daily routine imposed by others. The new monarchy welcomes him as warrior who will fight to the death without questioning the order to do so. They give him a purpose he was incapable of finding himself, and smile behind his back at the ignorant weapon they wield. I like to think his ghost was aligned with nm and when he was found it was nm who gave him his Exo body to repair the irreversible damge done during his initial death. My awoken warlock is a total flake. He believes the deepest universe holds all of man kinds answers. He doesn't believe every one of those answers is the one we want to hear, but still endeavours to uncover them. He has obviously trod too near the void in his pursuit and it has affected him. While always deadly, he is as likely to nova bomb six people at once as he is to stop fighting and try to talk with them. Dead orbit talks about life away from earth, my warlock hears this sentence, signs up and heads back out without listening to the rest of the factions spiel. My human Hunter is as much a mystery as the future war cult itself. His inner feelings and beliefs are a mystery to even me as I'm playing him. I do know that he feels affinity for the cult's belief in war to come and also the way it keeps its secrets. He spends his time in the wilds still, only coming into contact with other guardians for pvp in order to keep his fighting skills honed. During those times he must team up with others for a raid, he pays close attention to his teammates and how they fight. Those teammates might one day be enemies. He hasn't revealed any more of himself to me to comment further on his allegiance. I actually think my hunter is one of the fwc's top people but he doesn't want me or anyone else to know his business. It's all good fun till someone's beliefs are called into question lol.

              • New Monarchy. Our leader will be selected from chosen candidates, and even then, they will not be an absolute power. Our leader shall come from among us, not above us. We plan to help fight for City, and work to convey the peoples will beyond oir walls. We must work to reclaim what we have lost, rebuild our lost civilizations, and reforge our Golden Age. We have done it before without Guardians, and with their help, we can certainly do it now. The only problem is, the City is disorganized. Everyone in the Consensus keeps trying to push their own agenda, and nothing gets accomplished. We need a central leader to help guide us along the path to a new Golden Age. If that leader cannot be found, than it must be forged. Without a leader, then it will continue as is, with Fallen howling at the wall, and Factions at each others throats. It can't go on like this. FWC shocked their brains with misunderstood Vex technology, and acheived hallucinations. Even so, they saw a future of death, and instead of running. They are noble, but still crazy... and foolish. They plan to sit and prepare for the Darkness to attack us. If we push it back now, before it can become strong, then it will not stand a chance. If this great Darkness happens, we will gain more ground, more resources, and have better fighting chance if we rebuild our Golden Age. Dead Orbit is even worse than FWC. They believe that at the first sign of trouble, they should run away and abandon all that has fought to protect them up until that point. They will leave the City and its inhabitants, expecting it to be destroyed. However, whichever is attacking us will most likely pursue and destroy them easily. They will be fleeing to an open grave... Not to mention the criminal record of their leader. They are foolish, ungrateful, criminalistic, and cowards. Nothing more. That is my thoughts on the current Factions. It is now that I ask you to give us your support. We cannot rebuild our Golden Age alone. It is through the tireless work and generosity of Guardians like you that we will rise. We cannot do it alone. Hope is not born from the lone triumphs of a single king, but from the collective triumphs of the king in us all.

                • I didn't read any of this, but there should be a way to check which faction has the most members, kills, crucible wins, etc. Would make which faction you're in matter a little more. Weekly challenges could be involved.
