How is it free? I paid $20 for HoW, and then I paid $40 for TTK. All that's happening is Bungie is letting me play, and get relevant gear from, what I already paid $20 for.
I look forward to the update, but I'm not blindly naming the content as free, because it's not.
If anyone can tell me why they think it's free, please just tell me and explain why.
Edit: The reason why I made this post is because every single person who is even a little disappointed in the update and is critiquing it, the only responses I see are "it's free, get over it." That's not a good argument, and it's not true.
Edit: pablogordon actually made a really good point too. The update won't cost anything (not free) because of how people bought silver. So in a way we still payed for the update.
Edit: I feel like people still don't understand what I'm trying to say. I'm saying that I feel like I paid for the content in the update already, SO FOR ME, the update is not free. I paid $20 for it like 10 months ago

You bought what was advertised with TTK. You've gotten what was advertised. You did not buy challenge of the elders or any gear that drops from it. You're getting that for free, bungie could have very easily (and people would buy it) make this 10-20$ If you don't like the content coming who cares? You're not paying for it. You're still relevant in the game world. You're not getting left behind. It's free. That is a very sound argument. It's like complaining you don't like the new PvP game mode. Don't play it! I will. And I'll enjoy it. Cause quite frankly I don't care about what you want.

Freedom isn't free
-
10 months ago you brought TTK what was for that dlc only House of wolves revamped and stuff like that wasn't mentioned then Meaning it's free sir. The definition of free is something you don't pay for guess what your not paying anything (Unless you be technical and say internet) So technicly it's not free but (the actual content is free)
-
2 RespuestasAfter you bought TTK Bungie didn't owe you shit. There was no obligation on their part to provide anything further. So yes. This update is free. Deal with it.

Do you see how, when you generalize, you look like an idiot? We get it, say dumb shit, get responses. Can we please move past this experiment? It's been proven time and time again.

2 RespuestasIf you don't think this is free then you're an idiot. TTK content was released last year, we paid for that content. Now there's a new update with some brand new stuff as well as some classics with no cost to us to receive these items. You can't be this stupid can you?

3 RespuestasYou make good points here, and you're respectful enough of other people's opinions that I'm not going to try to invalidate those points. You're entitled to a rational, well-expressed opinion, and thus far you've exceeded all such criteria. I've spent $140 on vanilla Destiny and the three expansions, which together have provided me with 3046 hours of play. Destiny is the single best dollar-per-hour entertainment value I've experienced in any medium, so the point of whether this coming update is actually free is irrelevant to me. I understand if it's not irrelevant to you, I'm just explaining my own position here; call it free, call it not free, it doesn't matter, since I come out ahead either way. Some things that I'll be sure to keep in mind next week after the update is relased: I have not yet paid for access to level 41, 42, and challenge 42 Prison of Elders. I have not yet paid for access to the Blighted Chalice strike. I have not yet paid for access to the new Queen's weapons. I have not yet paid for access to Spektar armor. Again, you can call this stuff free or stuff I've already paid for; all that matters to me is the enjoyment that I get from this game every day, which includes my interactions with the people I've met while playing. Maybe you've got more of a point than I'm ready to admit, since essentially invalidating the end-game relevance of the PoE was kind of a d**k move, but when I'm this far into the black in my fun ledger, I can afford to be generous in my assessment of $140 well spent.

1 RespuestaSeriously? Bungie could legitimately throw a full fvcking sequel at us for FREE and retards would still find something to bitch about. Grow the fvck up already.
-
2 RespuestasIt isn't the same prison of elders though, nor is it the same gear
-
2 RespuestasI'm not paying any more money but I'm still getting the expansion which is offering up updated PoE, higher light level, a bunch of new gear and some new items to enhance that gear. Not paying 1 penny for any of it. So if I'm not paying for it and it's not free. What exactly is this new concept?
-
Nothing is free, by buying the game we've funded Bungie. If we did not fund them, we wouldn't get this update. However, this update does not require us to make an additional purchase, which is good.
-
2 RespuestasNothing is free, they chose not to charge us for it,silver is most likely funding this,I'm already around £150 in so far(total) but I don't mind because I enjoy playing destiny.
-
15 RespuestasThat's OK, and I don't expect you to understand this. But when somebody releases something that they could have charged you for, but instead they do it for free. That is free.
-
Omg I bought a car do I have to buy the windows too? No you paid for the car and got the windows free. The update is free. If you don't have ttk at this point why are you even complaining? The game has always revolved around the new content.
-
Same as other games. Look at all the "free" updates in grand theft auto. You paid the initial sixty but all the updates were free.
-
Holy $#!+ are we still beating the crap out of this decaying horse. No additional money = free update. Get the -blam!- over it already. FFS
-
Just like yuh balls
-
For you it is still free
-
It's free because I'm not paying any money to receive it, no where on my ttk legendary edition does it say that it includes "Spring update" That's why it is free
-
I seriously cannot believe people are still making these kinds of threads... it's free, stfu please.
-
Hm, well I'd say even though we may have already paid for it with The Taken King, there is the added benefit that Bungie had another six or seven months to keep a pulse on the community and respond to its needs. We're always smarter and wiser in the future, so this bought Bungie and us some more time. The contents of this update probably weren't ready to ship back in September, maybe hardly even conceived of, and nobody wants a game that is rushed and unfinished. So I'd say yes, we may have paid for it, but we're getting more value because of the elapsed time, and all of the learning that has happened since then. Oh, and the micro transactions aren't hurting either :)
-
This is illogical
-
Because it is newly coded content that was never promised or mentioned for past or future dlcs
-
NO. ADDITIONAL. COST.
-
I haven't had to go to the xbox store and select "purchase spring update"
