This debate over this issue is the most pointless thing this community has ever done. Both points are valid, but at the end of the day bungie and activision don't care. The fact that eververse sells these is a fact at this point, my mind would be blown if bungie even brings up the issue, let alone listen or address it with any changes.

It actually doesn't need any changes, as long as it stays doing what it's doing now and doesn't go much further into the micro transactions then it's in a good place.
-
You are truly naive if you don't think its going any further. I predicted they were going to sell the taken armor before they even announced it. I am glad that that my worst fear wasn't realized though, I feared that you would ONLY be able to buy the taken armor through eververse.
-
Not naive just experienced, it's not going the way you think it might, there are going to be considerably more micro transactions but they will stay vanity. After many years and hours sank into games with this mechanic I can see a difference.
-
Its not all vanity though, you can buy reputation gains now.
-
Actually no you can't, you can take a gamble at getting one with real money or just by playing the game. Doesn't matter if you buy thousands of them rngesus might just hate you, so would you say to those people they had an unfair advantage? I highly doubt it, and the stuff you get from packages would be exactly the same as the ones not bought so again doesn't give you a clear advantage, also perks etc don't necessarily make you a better player where as I games with p2w there are over powered items you can only get with real money which gives you said advantage, and that is what p2w is.
-
And I never said that it was pay to win, I don't believe that it is. I'm just pointing out that this goes against what Bungie previously said when they said that all eververse transactions would be purely "cosmetic."
-
I'm not having a go mate just saying it still is purely cosmetic, even the faction package gear is cosmetic, by the time we get one you will have cleared at least 1 Poe challenge and possibly a kf hard mode challenge making using faction packages for light gains a slower process than just playing the game anyway, in no way does getting any of this do anything to make it not vanity.
-
Its still something that you can obtain through money that's not a vanity item. The fact that you have to gamble for it actually makes it even worse.
-
Because while it could take me WEEKS to possibly get the gear I want, someone could BUY it on DAY 1...
-
Or it could drop day 1 and keep spending for weeks and not get what you want.
-
I completely agree, I understand the fear that many people have regarding bungie treading closer and closer to an actual pay to win. But based on what we know right know it's tough to judge what boundaries bungie has set for themselves when it comes to selling gear, weapons or rep boosts. In my opinion, as long as the items are obtainable in the game without much difficulty, I'm fine with it.
-
As someone who has played a stupid amount of mmo's with micro transactions and a real p2w this is nothing like it and I can see their boundaries quite clearly, this is not going down p2w routes although in regards to vanity items it will get worse.
-
What do you think this leads to. If people are willing to buy something that has little effect on the game itself, what happens when some real game changing shit gets offered up. That's the point. This is still just testing the waters. See if people will buy, and they will...
-
Exactly. These sheep just don't get it.
-
It really isn't, I've played way too many mmo's especially ones with p2w and this is nothing like how they start.
