There is no way on earth that both the head of the live team and senior designer for the April update were unaware of the changes/removal of checkpoints early in development.
I'm not having it.
I saw a response from Cozmo regarding this in which he said they were removed due to technical issues. If this was the case then CP's would have been removed very early on imo and so they wouldn't have mentioned it.
If I'm wrong and they were removed later on, this would be fresh in the memory.
Again, I'm not having it.
I think Bungie are playing games with us. You'd have to be in an idiot to believe their excuse for this one.
What are your thoughts?

Bungle lie to us?! No! Never! Oh wait, they do all the time. Enjoy your 0.04% buff and year 1 items we promised we wouldn't make irrelevant.

They're a bunch idiots and/or liars. It doesn't really matter at this point.

10 RespuestasYou make a strong case. Leads don't know ? INCONCEIVABLE !

5 RespuestasCheckpoints aren't needed and wouldn't work.

58 RespuestasHere's how we know Bungie isn't lying: they have nothing to gain from it. The expansion is (effectively) free. Telling people there are checkpoints when there are none will not gain them any sales, because there is nothing to be sold. It will not gain them any players, because people would find out day 1 that they lied. Moreover, they admitted the lie; there is no need to limit "good" press to only a day.
-
10 RespuestasI don't buy it either. My bet is, the development version has checkpoint, and they're being deliberately removed from the release. The mistake was assuming that the features on the version they were playing are actually what will be released. I think they are using check points during debugging and testing, but they don't want end users to have them.

Stinks of that one time Xur "glitches"

Something went wrong with coding and having the cp allowed hunters to have unlimited golden gun. Personally I'd like to have unlimited golden gun but many would be upset just like with the unlimited arrows.
-
Bump. No matter the truth, it's more Bungie bullshit.
-
It's only 3 rounds no one needs check points

5 RespuestasEditado por PhNx Hellfire: 3/28/2016 11:19:37 PMYou're not having it? Technical issues means complications involved at the programming level which indicate it was in conflict with something else. It is literally that simple. So no. They might have been unaware of such things. To use such an argument only points at the fact you aren't familiar with this process at all. Programming is built on many different elements playing hand into hand into hand with one another. When something conflicts? You try different things. It's not a manual. There is no "right" code. It's built by people who punch out a lot of it on a daily basis as it starts out small... gets to be something definitive... gets to be something we recognize like a room... and then becomes an encounter. It's literally very small and small interactions which become bigger as time goes on. Once at the end? Stuff still is in conflict and you are still working on that same basic level of hand to hand to hand level, but now with a lot of established work. It's not copy and paste applicable. It's not negotiable either. It's technical.

now you see why Bungie takes soooooo long to give out information? relax bro it is just a game, we beat skollas, this should be a walk in the park
-
15 RespuestasDude, the challenge mode took them about a half an hour to finish with a wipe. I really don't think checkpoints are needed. You know the community is going to be able to run them faster than bungie employees. So don't start one of you don't have 45 minutes to spare, checkpoint problem solved
-
2 RespuestasAren't you the same people who said if something's going to change let us know before? Well, they said checkpoints. Within 24 hours it's corrected and all you can do is bitch about how it did it happen? Are you forgetting the .04% Fiasco? That was 3 weeks until it was corrected. This was a day. Just enjoy what we have. They know of our complaints.

1 RespuestaEditado por D1eThx: 3/28/2016 10:32:52 AMThey lie all the time. Remember the 0.04 debacle? They are either lying or have no idea what they're doing. I'm not sure which id hate to admit more.

Also I would never let one of my public team speak on air wearing a hoody, while unshaven and looking stoned. It's not cool. It's not professional and it shows how tired and relaxed they are with our feedback and contributions.

2 RespuestasCheck points removed to pump up play time (grind) like everything else in destiny to appease Activision overlords.

1 RespuestaThe only problem with your argument is that they have nothing to gain and everything to lose (credibility) from "playing games" with this. Nobody has to order the new DLC, we get it automatically. They don't need to convince anybody to buy it. The correct information was given out quickly, so it's not like there was a week of mega-hype for this anyway. There's literally no upside for them on this one. IMO, it's just another example of them not keeping everyone on the streams in the loop. Which is idiotic, sure, but hardly grounds for some conspiracy theory.

My guess is the head of live team said yes to checkpoint. But the higher ups said no to checkpoint (for some reason) So no checkpoint
-
2 RespuestasI think Bungie (mis)Management forgot to tell one of the head carpenters who actually BUILT the bloody house they're expecting players to move into come April that they were going to strip off all the cedar shingles he just finished describing to us, in detail, as a huge feature of that house. And now they're throwing him under the goddamn bus by creating the impression that he's an experienced lead designer on their live team who - despite acknowledging direct involvement with the process of adding in checkpoints (and the reasons why) - apparently didn't know that those checkpoints had encountered 'technical difficulties'. That's not 'taking one for the team', Bungie ... that's taking one of the team who is actually busy trying to patch the holes in your sinking boat - and throwing him overboard to the sharks - somehow thinking it'll make things better.
-
Remember when HoW came out...all the kicks back to orbit about the final round? They definitely have a server problem that needed to be fixed. I can't imagine revamping an area where they had previous server problems, and didn't fix it first. But it's Bungie, so....
-
2 RespuestasFor the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth head over to bungie.net........Says so on the tower PA system.
-
Many times features Never Make it to release very common That's why you don't tell people about features early on in development they may not make it My guess is in the original poe they had issues and never fixed them
-
I'm in an idiot but I still don't believe them. What am I doing wrong?
