Urk's tweet did the trick

Eric sent this tweet out to manage expectations so we wouldn't be disappointed with the update. It did the trick - my expectations are now so low that I don't think anything could disappoint me now... EDIT 2 And sure enough, thanks to Eric's expectations management, I wasn't disappointed by tonights' reveal! :) (The new challenges look like they'll be a bit of fun. So far it looks like there'll only be one endgame activity where you can get the highest level loot, but I think Bungie have things to say about gear and loot next week, so will await further info) EDIT There's been quite some good discussion over this post - thought I'd address some of the key points here: Why did you have such expectation over a free update? When this update was announced in a December "this week" blog, it gave the impression that it would be quite significant. At first I even thought it would be a DLC. After accepting that would be too much for a free update, I thought at least we could have updated versions of existing content. The announcement was therefore a bit of a disappointment, given the impression the Dec announcement gave. Why are we calling for reskins instead of new content altogether? As it's a free update, completely new content would have been expecting a bit much. Bungie are currently working on sequels and expansions where we can expect bigger things. Updating VoG and CE (and PoE) would have been a relatively easy way to increase the number of end game challenges from one to four, increasing the variety. With VoG and CE, all it would take is to up the light levels and assign appropriate loot. Blaming Urk/Deej/Bungie etc Believe it or not, I actually think this community has a bit too much of a tendency to shoot the messenger and think we should give the guys a bit more slack. Eric was giving us information, even though he was the bearer of bad news! I think it's easy to forget that Bungie give us a lot more than most devs too. With most games we play through once, and then are happy to leave them until the next installment comes out. Bungie, in comparison, has continually worked to improve the game. As well as the content, they're also continually tweaking things, sometimes experimentally, sometimes making mistake, but always making an effort to improve the game. It's a lot more than most game devs give their players. I've also gotten far more fun and playtime out of this game than most others. I think they do have a bit of a problem with miscommunication. On this occasion, a Dec blog post raised expectations too high, which weren't met and caused disappointment. (Hence the disappointment expressed) I still overall appreciate the work they do.
