What book does the president place his right hand on when he takes his oath of office? What book do you place your right hand on when you take an oath to tell the truth in court? What does it say on our one dollar bill? What does our pledge of allegence say? This nation was founded on judeao christian values and our framers were God fearing men. It doesn't say separation of church and state,it says there will be no state ran religion so government can't tell you what religion to follow or how to follow it, but this great nation is great because of christian morals. Fact
Edit: I want to make this clear. When we say it was founded by judeao christian values it doesn't mean the church runs the country. All it means is the country was built and the laws are made from the values of Christianity. That's a fact

I know my post will be on the topic of religion more than the founding fathers but for me, It is saddening that Christianity was what the founders followed IMO. As you can see, ISIS is spreading Islamic extremism throughout middle eastern countries as well as Europe. Now, where have we seen this before? The Crusade. We are once again seeing an extremist version of a middle eastern religion ravaging its way through Europe. Slowly causing the destruction of the culture there. Just like the Christians did to the Pagans. As an Eastern European, I feel as though that anyone with a European backround should separate themselves from these immigrant religions and take their culture/religion back. Now, I am not saying that any religion is right or wrong here. I am just stating that extreme versions of religion are destroy native cultures. Also noted with the arrival of colonists into America destroying the Native American culture. As far as I am concerned, any religion from a place that I am not from is one I would never follow. I would follow Slavic Paganism. Because that is what my ancestors followed. Take back your culture, fam.

And that's fine and all but some of it needs to change for the better.

It was also founded on genocide and slavery.

I'm an Atheist and I have more morals than some of the christians I've talked to. This gal I'm talking to had christians guys asking her for special favors, in several different forms, and she would always deny them, and they would get pissed and start calling her out for no reason and insulting her. And with one that she dated, he used her and abused her. He was full blown christian. Atheists don't have morals? Right.

So? America has advanced in technology since the 1800s; it wasn't founded with cars and helicopters and revolving doors in mind, yet here we are. Are you suggesting we shouldn't have advanced ideologically as well?

Morals were around before Christianity
-
"Creator" doesn't mean the Jude's-Christian God. Also almost all of the people who created and signed the constitution were frosts, not Christian.

Yet, America has no official religion. In the pledge we do say "one natoin under god", but that was added in the 1950s during the Cold War to set us apart from the more atheistic Soviet Union. On our money it says "in god we trust", this doesn't specify an exact god, which means it could be any being with the title of a god. Basically "in god we trust" could mean "in Thor we trust." However, just the fact that America doesn't have an official religion basically makes your arguement meaningless.

Can you show us anywhere it says the president has to be a Christian? No because The U.S. Constitution famously prohibits any religious test or requirement for public office. Religion shapes a candidates electability so it's usually unavoidable to claim a religion, thanks to zealots like you, just to be considered for election. Funny thing Lincoln, Jefferson and Franklin Pierce were likely atheists and Lincoln is considered in the top 3 presidents of all time. Oh and Franklin Pierce took the Oval Office with an affirmation and not an oath. More on affirmations in a second. What book do you place your right hand on when you take an oath to tell the truth in court? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmation_in_law What does it say on our one dollar bill? Dwight D Eisenhower forced "in God we trust onto our currency and began the "under God" addition to the pledge of allegiance http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/president-eisenhower-signs-in-god-we-trust-into-law What does our pledge of allegence say? refer to previous comment about how it was added and forced on us. This nation was founded on judeao christian values and our framers were God fearing men. Lets see if you can read http://www.britannica.com/topic/The-Founding-Fathers-Deism-and-Christianity-1272214 It doesn't say separation of church and state,it says there will be no state ran religion so government can't tell you what religion to follow or how to follow it, but this great nation is great because of christian morals. Fact Actually the constitution said the US would not establish a religion but also would not restrict people from exercising religion. I won't address the morals being Christian idiocy.
You're an idiot and everything in this post is incorrect. Don't you ever say this great country was founded on religion. You don't know anything about our history and you are trying to twist it into what you want. You should be deported because you are the type of person our founding fathers were running from. You are a pile of thinking puke that doesn't know how to reason or think critically. Maybe you should learn about things before you post them. Especially when you know nothing about its history.

8 RespuestasEditado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 3/5/2016 6:57:22 PMThere are quite a few things that quite a few founding fathers said that are contrary to this. Though I'm sure you will deny it.
The quality of your shitposting is diminishing.
20 RespuestasChristian morals are pretty shit tbh. I mean, according to your holy book, slavery is good. You guys hate abortion, even in -blam!- cases, etc. and all forms of contraception are a no no. Plus, many of you mistreat minority groups (such as homosexuals) for religious reasons. Christianity is also a key reason for sexism. America may have been founded with Christian morals (idk if it actually was or not), but that doesn't mean they still have to be used. That's like saying 'video games were made using this programming language'. Okay, but these new languages are better, so we're gonna use these instead of the old one. What I'm essentially saying is, who gives a shit? It doesn't actually matter...
but this great nation is great because of morals that have nothing to do with religion because we can see them in other social mammals. Fact
Fixed that for you.

7 RespuestasEditado por Shrek Almighty: 3/5/2016 6:22:30 PMFalse. The USA was founded on Enlightenment and deistic values. The use of the Bible in courts/swearing officials into office is due a strong Christian majority existing in the population. Which is rapidly changing, as some judges are now being sworn in on the Qur'an as well.

Slavery is a great example.

6 RespuestasYou exactly defined separation of church and state, but it seems you misleadingly imply that it only goes one way; government control of religion. Realize that one religion, even if the majority practice it, should not be able to pass religious laws that infringe on the freedom of religion of others. Judea-Christian values were extracted from other religious texts and developed out of social norms aka traditions. Values and morals are living, they change as the perspective of the living changes. For example, Britain was also a Christian nation at the time of the founding fathers, which the founding fathers revolted from. Your argument relies on very little information to make a point about Christian values beings superior. The more information you get, the more you see that argument start to break down.
