Chapter one-Swords to Plowshares.
Standing up a man looks over the battlefield. He was totally alone. Nothing but him the wind. Nothing but piles of bodies. The wind sounded like the souls of the dead. Tanks lay littered with other debris as if strewn around by a tornado. Other metal shapes stuck out as well. Gunships that would never fly again. Artillery guns that will never fire.
He survived the madness of what transpired. He was just a lone mercenary. Climbing over the wreckage in a massive three Kilometer crater. Was he all alone? Looking into the sky he could see the three moons on this planet. Walking over to a wrecked Mobile Armored System. It's black shape looked alien and some what sinister.
He was about to go around it when the hatch popped open. A beautiful young woman hung out of the cockpit. Some sort of strange glyph's covered part of her skin, her suit was strange as well. He remembered something about knights being the enemy. Yet he was another survivor.
" Free"The woman's hand twitched before she passed out. Taking out his knife he was able to free her from some sort of transparent restraints. The wind kicked up dust and dirt. The stench of dead and fried electronics. Small fires burned and ammo could be heard cooking off in the distance. .
Looking up at the sun for a moment he got his bearings. Placed the woman on his shoulder dragging her over to some shade for a better look. Glad it looked like only bruises as he had no medical kit. Searching for one he found a few things inside the cockpit of the machine.
Picking up the woman again they had to keep moving. If he got lucky he could find what he needed. They kept walking until finding a military hospital truck. It was turned upside down was open.. It could fold out to serve as a full fledged hospital. He was able to find it was not locked. Not to mention finding all he needed.
Powering up the diagnostics machine he found. Checking over the strange woman. Her left arm was hurt pretty bad. Cleaning it up and putting it in a sling. No broken bones as that was good. Getting out a hover stretcher he placed the woman onto it. They pushed on until they got to the enemy camp.
It was scorched by fire but the base seemed partially intact. He bet they hid supplies and food. They did have bunkers so taking the woman he left her to search out for food. Finding a stash of what he needed and not to mention a few Energy Rifles. He ate and fell asleep.
Waking up later the woman stood over him with some sort of sword. He did not remember her having one. Taking off his helmet he let it clatter to the ground." Easy no,. I saved you. You are safe. The battle is over. We are all that is left." Her blade lowered as she nodded.
Saying nothing as she fell over onto the stretcher. He helped her into it. Her hair was like that of the super models he see on the V-net. It was dark and curly for some reason. It was dark outside and he decided to help her back onto the stretcher. Silently going outside to look at the stars.
All around them was carnage as it was unknown how many did survive. He did know it would take a while to get out. A day or two at most. He remembered his tank crew but that was before. Looking up at the stars he was too tired to contemplate what happened.
A soft snore touched the woman's ears. That man saved her for reasons even she was not sure of. One thing was certain as he showed a certain level of respect. Her wounds had been properly cared for. A medical kit lay not far away. He even gently helped her back onto the stretcher.
This was all so confusing and she kept thinking about how he saved her. Was she not his enemy?. He did not seem the kind to fight unless it was for profit. But something bothered her about him. How was it he survived?

The young beautiful woman he saved in knights armor was over him. He sat up as his injuries hit him. Laying back down as she had removed his light combat vest. Her hand gently helped him sit back down." I am sorry i startled you." " It is fine my lady." His shirt was off as well. It was kind of embarrassing. Yesterday was such a haze as he looked up seeing the three moons. They were in different positions." Thank you for tending to me." She smiled standing up." If it had not been for you i might not have gotten out of my Knight M.A.S. or even made it this far." " I did what any one would have done." He was no hero he knew that. Yet he could feel she owes him." I would think that you would have done the same." She looked at the ground for a moment." I cannot lie and say i would. But you rescuing me has given me much to think on." " I am Lady Knight of the third rank Kersina Lancaster. I must thank you for all you have done for me." He smiled at the Knight." I am Sergeant Victor Nelson. Apart of the Storm Brigade's armor company." Nodding as that was who she faced." You mercenary's put up a good fight until, some kind of weapon got used on both of us." " I am honored my lady. But yes, the person or persons responsible for this. I will find and make them pay for killing my friends." He sounded so determined. Yet he was frustrated like her to have a battle end in such a way." We should head to the nearest base and report in." Kersina agreed with the Sergeant. " We have one closer than any you have. If we can find some transportation we can get to them in less than a day." He smiled at her for a moment." You know i thought all you knights were stuffy. But meeting you changed my mind. Beautiful smart and a M.A.S pilot to boot." He sounded as if he admired her but they were not saying what they truly felt. " True and i had thought all Mercenary's had no honor and fought for the ones who paid the most." He chuckled as it hurt him when he did." Oh Orbitus would never let us fight with out a contract. We fight for more than that. Our brothers and sisters. Honor is to be found in the Mercenary Guild. Not to mention our Brigade." He sighed realizing his brigade was gone now. " We should rest up. It was a good talk Sergeant." He went back to sleep not wanting to argue anything. He was frustrated like she was about how things turned out. The Brigade was everything to him and now it was gone. All except him and that was the hardest thing to live with. As she lay down on her hover stretcher. She found the items he had taken from her cockpit. She dare not open the holo locket. Her life till now was to fight for her Order. To be the best she could be. Yet she had been humbled by a mere tanker. One who seemed a bit happy go lucky. Tears fell from her eyes as she cried about loosing all her friends as well. Most of all she asked why should she suffer? But the only bright spot was the Sergeant. Both of them were in this together. She made a decision that they would find out together what had happened. It had been a long time since she cried. "No enemy will spare you if you cry." her father used to say. Yet if Victor seen her cry she could never live with that kid of shame. Pulling herself together knowing the both of them would rely on one another. She had to be strong and yet her feelings for him started to scare her a bit. The real fear for them was the unknown. He seemed not to be afraid. So she would be afraid for both of them.
