Stereotypes of christians

First off I want to say wether you're a believer or not, it would benifit anyone to read the bible. there is great life lessons in there. That can't be argued. Many steriotypes include that many believe the bible teaches hate for gays, races, other religions and that's not true. The bible teaches that it's sinful. not to hate it. In fact the bible teaches us that we cannot judge someone else for their sins because us are selves aren't without sin. I can get into the teachings for hours but that's not the point of this topic. Another stereotype is that Christians shove religion down people's throats. I have not once seen that happen. Just because someone's going door to door spreading the word of God isn't shoving it down people's throats. You have every right to say no thank you and they won't go any further. I'm not saying it doesn't exist but it's very rare so rare that I've never seen it. One thing I have seen especially on here is athiests trying to disprove our faith so who's shoving it down who's throats? When we argue with you we never try to convince you that you're wrong in what you believe. I've seen alot of hate and bigotry from the athiests on here and although I respect your views, I don't respect the disrespect I've seen many commit. This doesn't apply to everyone so I hope you realize that. Have a good day everyone Edit: I just want to add for anyone who hates religion and doesn't think it should exist. That means you don't believe in civilized society. Religion created self worth and morality and those were the building blocks of society. So attacking religion is attacking yourself

  • Interesting discussion to bring up. I think most people ought to consider why they believe what they believe, and then decide if they want to talk about it. If you don't share someone's belief, and you don't want to talk about it, ignore the conversation or be nice and ask to move on from it. There is no sense in anyone being hateful. And if you engage in such a dialog, do it with an honest and open mind. Both parties may learn something and will certainly respect each other in the end. It doesn't even seem like people today know how to handle different views, let alone discussion them from opposing positions. It is ok if you do not agree with me, just know you are wrong. 😀 (the last sentence is meant to be funny)
