Where do you see the red bar at in game maybe I'm a newb but I've never seen where to check my connection to destiny?

Go to roster or check the scoreboard. At the right hand side of everyone's name, there is a bar. It can be full and green, 2/3 full and yellow, 1/3 full and orange, or 1/8 full and red. This bar gauges your connection to the game and how laughter you appear to others :P
