For some reason i have a strong desire to go to New Orleans in future fallout games or expansions. Maybe Hawaii as an expansion, having the chance to visit the hawaiian islands post-war. California would be cool and they could put back the NCR on action, see what happened to them ever since FO 3 New york wouldn't work since it's a giant crater.

  • I would think New Orleans would be pretty similar to the place in Massachusetts where you go for Point Lookout, being that both of those places would be pretty swampy and (since we are talking about the "Voodoo Capital of America") they would both relate with the concept of voodoo.

  • I really loved Point lookout, maybe they can pull off the whole "Voodoo capital" thing as the main plot, figuring out supernatural forces or something else.

  • Since its below sea level wouldnt new orleans would be flooded because of the earthquake that wouldve occured shortly after the bombs dropping?

  • Probably, not a lot of what happened to New orleans is known. Maybe introduce the whole underwater theory everyone is talking about in there.

  • There's no indication as to whether or not NYC is a crater. Yes, the city's wiki page on Nukipedia does say that it was hit, it does not say what the extent of the damage was.

Actually it was mentioned briefly in New Vegas with the dead Money dlc. there could be some sort of civilization and a good assortment of buildings in New York post war, but it was one of the high priority targets for China along with Los Angeles during the war and got more simultaneous blasts than other areas, hence why everyone says why is it a giant crater. Also New York got their own "mini blast" before the war, in which a reactor got blown up and gave NY a complete rad infested summer, which could've worsen the effects of the war in that area. While lorewise/theorywise it doesn't make sense to explore NY after becoming a simple dustfilled fog area with very few standing buildings, if bethesda does come up with a way to introduce us to a still surviving NY well im up for it.

  • The thing is that evetything that was written for New Vegas, from the base game to the DLC, was written by Obsidian Ent, not BGS. As BGS holds the rights to the Fallout IP, they could retcon what happened to NYC, therefore nullifying the need to "find a way to make it work.". If BGS decides to make NYC the location of their first FO4 DLC, or the main location of Fallout 5, that's their right. And no amount of complaining is going to change that.

New Vegas actually takes a few years after F3. Also why did you assume i am complaining? All i said was that what is known so far according to both theories and mentions in games is that NY is very destroyed in which the whole "giant crater" rumor came. If they want to retcon it and introduce us NY im all for it, hell i'll love to see it happen sooner, but so far there hasn't been a lot of interest in it.

  • Because every time someone starts a thread about how they'd like to see the next Fallout or a Fallout DLC set in NYC, 200(an exaggerated number) people flood his/her thread saying it's either a crater or at the bottom of the ocean. And it annoys me to no end when I see that, and they refuse to discuss it further. I am well aware that FO3 and New Vegas share the same universe. My point was that just because a terminal in the NV DLC Dead Money says that NYC got nuked out of existence, doesn't mean that that entry is the end of the discussion, as Bethesda has final say over the canonicity of Fallout. I never assumed you were complaining. If my replies came across as such, my apologies.

  • That armor was sweet as hell, if they actually bring them back in future expansions maybe they can bring back all their armor and introduce a new Power armor variant made by them. After all it's been 200 years since New Vegas.
