First off I would like to say that I approve of most of what bungie has done with Destiny, I had no real problems with TDB and HOW, I felt they both revitalized the game and kept me playing. I was also fine with the Micro-transactions when they were released. And although it doesn't sit well with me, I can at the very least stomach this delayed/time locked content system that bungie has been running with lately.
However, I find this whole refer a friend system to be incredibly irritating.
Back pre-release of destiny, when I got my beta codes, I gave the extra two to my friends, both of them ended up buying destiny. Around the time of TDB I suggested several of my friend get destiny so we could raid together. And when TTK was announced I encouraged the rest of my friends (who care about gaming) to pick up destiny, many of them did. Yet now that a refer-a-friend quest/option has been added to Destiny, not only are me and the friends I referred ineligible for a quest which quite literally gives a name to what we did, but I have literally ran out of friends to refer.
I'm not saying that Bungie should remove the R-A-F from the game, I understand that it is a tool to bring in more players and thus generate more revenue (which bungie need to do, because yes, they are a business). Nor am I saying that Bungie should treat me like a special snowflake and retroactively go back and give me credit for the quest, I'm not an entitled idiot.
My point is that in any game (or anything outside of a game) there should never be a practice that puts the most dedicated fans/players in a disadvantage it terms of acquiring content. You should never put your most trusted fan-base in a position where their mindset is; "I wish I had started playing this game later".
And no, I don't know a solution to this problem, nor am I suggesting bungie make any changes, I am simply posting this in hopes that some Bungie employee will read it and think about what I have said.
(And yes, I am a mad desticle. Trolls (or should I say 50% of this forum) do your worst.)
EDIT: I completed the quest with a random I found it the tower, that however does not change my opinions on this addition to the game.
