For me it's the fact that all of my year 1 grinding, over 400 hours (I think :L ) that were just taken from me in one fell swoop. So yeah I won't be doing that again, thanks Edit: And before any more fanboys arrive with that tired line: 'but it's an MMO, they totally do that' just stop. Just stop it. Stop training yourself to call this game something that it isn't just for the sake of trying to defend this bullshit.

  • So I read some comments you made and seems like you are in denial. You have no idea what is going on in this game and why and it upsets you. I saw someone saying that "this is what happens in every rpg game" and you started insulting him and denying everything without any arguments. I am not sure if you are mature and can understand this.

  • So I read your comment and then I sailed down the river of faux intellect. I'm not in denial of what this game is, I know what this game is, and it pisses me off, because it effectively combines all of the corporate-pleasing mechanics from most other games I've played. Seriously. Apart from having a monthly fee to play the game, I can't think of one shitty ass decision that Bungivision haven't managed to squeeze in. And what annoys me is when fanboys come out of the woodwork with bullshit like 'oh it's because it's an RPG!' No. Go and play an RPG, then come back, and if you still think the same then you weren't playing the true RPG properly. But what pisses me off is that Destiny somehow gets an identity change depending on whatever slice of bullshit the fanboys are scrabbling to defend: 'it's because it's an MMO' 'it's because it's an RPG' 'well duh that's what happens in all FPS's' and it's f*cking annoying. It'd be like walking into a court house, watching a blatant criminal order a wheelchair, sitting his/her ass down, and claiming that 'Ah. See. Can't have been me that robbed that shop. Tra' I'm not saying that Destiny is a terrible game, but I'm saying that if you're going to defend it, at least f*cking defend it properly, on what it actually does well, instead of just making up the excuses for Bungivision. People who do that: these apologists, are just doing themselves such a disservice, because even though there's something that can and should be improved upon (unless you're telling me that you were dancing round the house when you found out that all of your year 1 grinding has amounted to nothing in year 2?) they're still happy to just grab their ankles for Bungie, and f*ck anybody who isn't happy, they're just not matuuuure enough yet

It basically told me a two things about Destiny going forward (and I do intend to continue playing): 1. my time is not going to be respected. 2. don't get excited about/or invested in any gear.

  • Sure it is. In RPGs you do things to get better gear to do higher level things. This is what you do in destiny, so it really is a RPG style game in this regard.

..You do that in every f*cking game on the market? Damn these fanboys, suck Bungie's dick all you want, but don't turn around to the rest of us and tell us that it tastes of f*cking marzipan, because we know it doesn't. We can all see what it really is. Destiny is an FPS. Fallout 4 is an RPG. There's a huge difference between those games, and before you start 'but in both of those games, you shoot people!' Just don't. Calling Destiny an RPG besmirches the name of an RPG. If I told someone I was playing Fallout 4- an RPG, and they turned around with 'Oh! An RPG like my beloved Destiny!' Then that conversation would be over. I mean let's just look at the very first thing we do in Destiny: character creation. Character creation in an RPG is meant to be robust, I should be able to make almost any face that the graphics will allow. Now let's look at Destiny (not a real RPG), it has a character creation that is massively exceeded somehow by The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind , an actual RPG that is over a decade older than Destiny, and its character creation system has more to it.

  • First off I didn't call it an RPG...I said it had RPG style with the way gear works and shit. I just don't understand why everyone is so god damn butt hurt over not being able to use the same god damn weapons for over a year. Try some new -blam!-ing weapons, sorry you feel your time was wasted but hey, your playing a -blam!-ing video game and wasting your time already.

.. What RPG have you played where they scrap everything that you've already worked for just so that they can sell you more shit? Seriously? And no I don't mind using 'god damn' new guns. Here's a comparison: I played Skyrim. They released the Dawnguard DLC. I did a rather long side quest in said DLC, and at the end I earned a piece of armour, which I then used in replacement of gear I already owned. That is how this should work. I shouldn't be forced to change everything for no better reason than Bungie wanting to ramp-up my play-time by increasing the number of hours that I'm grinding. I should want to change because of how good the new gear is. But still, apologies for being somewhat short-tempered in previous posts

  • I will apologize as well, but I'm am kinda curious what you mean by replace? Sounds like this piece of gear was new so it replaces your older gear? Also every time an expansion comes out in Warcraft guess what happens to your old gear. 5 quests in and all that gear you just worked to get is now replaced and obsolete. And yes world of Warcraft is an RPG.

  • I think the basis for replacing my gear in a game should be 'I prefer this new piece to what I already have', and not 'well the developers have slaughtered all of my old gear, so I'll have to just replace it at the first opportunity'. I should clarify that my problem isn't that I can't use all of that old gear now (although that does piss me off) my main problem is that I don't want to try and earn gear anymore. It feels pointless now that I know that Bungie will just come along and take that gear from me at any time they choose. Btw is Warcraft not an MMO?

Bungievision is the true Taken King. I get that earlier gear may become obsolete with new expansions, but there is absolutely no point to playing any of the Y1 content. A good 3/4 of the game's total content (Y1 and Y2) is pointless now.
