Everyone does realize that realistic shotgun kill ranges are 60+ meters, in destiny you're lucky to get a kill at 10 meters. I'm glad Black Ops expanded their range, but the game closest to realistic shotgun values is Battlefield 4, they're actually worth using because they have more versatility and present more than a close quarters threat.

You don't regenerate your health in 10 seconds in real life either. The physics of the world are tuned to support gameplay. Shotguns have short range because they are meant to fill a weapon niche. Don't compare reality to a video game because they are not intended to align.
-
Haha. 60 metres!
-
Kill a lot of people with shotguns do ya?
-
Killed a lot of wild game with them - yep.
-
Yes but there should be a difference between real life and a game sense its a way smaller battlefield
-
40 yards is more realistic there mate.
-
Depends what ammunition you're using.
-
40 is pretty much maximum for a lethal distance with any sort of shot and choke, slugs on the other hand would be roughly 150 yards.
-
Yeah, but sadly the chaperone can hit about 10 meters.

And also in real life the hand cannons, pulse rifles, auto rifles, and scout rifles would have way more range and kill much faster. Good thing it's only a game.
-
For video game balancing shotguns are FAR less range then what they are in real life. Shotguns in video games are not meant to be like shotguns in real life
-
These players only reality is destiny. Don't try real world comparison unless you want to get destroyed lol by video game logic. We can traverse the stars, throw flaming hammers, shoot lasers yet we have less effective shotguns 1000+ years in the future.
-
Shotgun? 60 metres? Lethal to a sparrow maybe. The f*ck outta here
-
I occasionally hunt with a shotgun, they very much work beyond 60 meters. And with slugs, much much farther than that.
-
What, you're saying destiny isn't realistic? Get outta town
-
I'm not just talking about Destiny, FPS games in general interpret shotguns as useless outside of a few meters, and everyone still complains about their range.
-
Because we play games where you spend the majority of a game within 15 feet of the next player. If they don't have extremely short range they invalidate all other weapon types. An intelligent person would understand this.
