Why are ppl butt hurt about micro transaction?

You aren't forced to buy anything.
A few possible reasons of the many: 1) People generally don't like change. When that change also involves money, people get even more annoyed. 2) People are under the illusion that they have purchased something other than a licence agreement. 3) People hate going without something, and when those things cost money they would rather that no one have it if they can't have it. 4) Many people aren't used to paying for stuff - the steal a lot of media and can't accept that they may have to pay for something. 5) People have no opinion, but their friends have strong opinions. Less cognitive stress if they go along with their friends than.
People still view microtransactions as a evil due to the horrible cases of buying power. (i reccomend going on yt and search for extracredits explanation of the subject if you want some perspectives) Doest help that Activision is involved. The hive mindset that they beat children and sell grannies for profit is just so ingrained that a lot of people cant think rationally about the subject.

    • Most fear a slide into the "Pay to win" realm. If things stay cosmetic, fine. If you have to pay real world money to obtain a powerful exotic, and this is the only way to get it...
The forums will burn like never before.
• Because the same publisher running this shit show started up the WOW store in what was current dlc haven't played 6.2 the only worth while mounts had to be bought for 20 something dollars. This is after a $70 expansion and $15 a month sub fee I'm not sure if you've noticed over the past ohh lets say 25 years but ruining things people love is kind of activisions thing

    • It's more of the principle. Is it a good idea? Sure, it's cute and adds some personality to the game. The reasoning behind it though? I don't buy it... They need to "support their live team" off of these funds... How much money has this game made already, and they mean to tell us they're running short on cash to support the infrastructure for a live team?? When they've solely set out for the last six years to make a live game? Just be straight with us. No one thinks this is a bad idea in its current form, but cut the PR crap...this game has made soooooooo much money, don't try and convince us that anyone over at Bungie is short on funds for development purposes...

    • Micro transaction, how they start. 1. sell totally harmless thing that you can then call anyone crazy for if they complain about it... (like when some asshole driver honks at you at a drive-thru to hurry up, so you respond by waving at them in a friendly manner, you can tell their reaction will "that guy waved at me! now i'm pissed because he took away my right to be angry" 2. sell a few more totally harmless items, possibly raise the price in comparison and then explain "we raised the price so only serious people buy it. 3. sell a slightly less harmless item. write a piece to tell everyone it's at least not game breakingly powerful. 4. repeat 3 several times. 5. Sell a new consumable item that adds the exotic life perk to any exotic. explain how it's not even OP or pay2win because people can just swap armour/weapons around on the fly anyway, so it's just a convenience service. 6 sell whatever you want because by now you've made everyone get accustomed to pay2win

      • 6) People are afraid that emotes could very well be just the start for pay2win mechanics. 7) People think Micro Transactions have no place in a full retail price AAA game. 8) People are not dumb enough to believe a company that made 500.000.000 $ on day one and charged you about 120 $ over the course of a year needs to make more money in order to keep making more content.

      • I'm gonna compare Destiny to another game I love that also has micro-transactions, GTAV. In GTA Online, you can pay real money to get in-game money, used to purchase weapons, vehicles, apartments, etc. On paper it sounds pay to win but it isn't. Money is earned fairly quickly if you work at it, cars are unlocked for everybody, money can't unlock guns that you don't have the rank for, there are DLC guns that are unlocked for everybody, apartments are available to everybody. The option is there for people who want a shortcut, fair enough. As a result we haven't seen a single GTA Online DLC people had to pay for, it's all been free. Free content for players on a regular basis, even the highly anticipated heists were free. This is what I hope Destiny heads for, charging for stuff you can live and play without, but is still there for the people who do want it, and as a result it can fund small, but regular content updates. As many have mentioned before, yes it can be a slippery slope and you bet your ass that if Destiny slides down the hill of pay-to-win, the players will be pissed, and Bungie will lose in the end, but for now, people should embrace this. For the moment these micro-transactions will have next to no impact on how you play, but is an option for the people who want it. Micro-transactions are a touchy subject for most and difficult to handle correctly for the developers. From what I've seen so far Bungie is handling it correctly, charging for extras that have no bearing on how people play the game, but as mentioned before, if they mess it up, they'll have to answer to all the angry players.

          • Let's say Bungie sold Gjallarhorn last year for $20. If you played last year at all you'd understand why this would matter in more than a "kinda" way. Sure, you can get the item to drop in-game via RNG. Tell that to the people who played daily for 10 months and never got one to drop. The term is "Pay to win" and it's where this is heading.

            • As long as you only have to do micro transactions for vanity items. Having to hand over your wallet to win a f'ing game is just dumb.

To me it sorta shows the true face of a publisher/developer. Bungie tries to justify microtransactions... Blah Blah optional... Blah Blah player choice... Blah Blah doing it for the community. The fact is, it shows that everything about this game is about sucking as much money out of people as they can. I mean, we kind of knew this already with Destiny. But putting in microtransactions just confirms it, however optional they might be. I guess that's the reason most people don't like microtransactions... In a full priced 60$ game... On top of which we are paying a lot of money for dlc. That just shows what It's all about. Nothing done in this game is for the players.

                • Could be a test, once they see how much money people will spend on useless cosmetic shit what's to stop them from selling exotic engrams/gear next? Or exclusive weapons/armor only obtainable by using silver? It's fine if it actually stays cosmetic, but it's a very slipperly slope once they start with any type of microtransactions.
