No MMO with the gear leveling (light system) and how weapons and gear are attained. The RPG part is what makes it not as massive as WOW or other main MMO games but destiny definitely has most of the traits of an MMO.

Destiny is not a MMO because: - MMO's have large overwolds with plenty players online - Lots of content , quests , story etc. - Frequent updates, patches and content additions - Lots of classes and specializations - Economy: crafting , trading , selling - Social features : Text chat window , ingame Clan/Guild features , matchmaking , party finder - High amount of raids Large party raids with plenty of players - Item/Gear variety/Transmog - Lots of (free) emotes - Frequent seasonal events
-
And everything you just said are in destiny so your point is?

[quote]Destiny is not a MMO because: - MMO's have large overwolds with plenty players online (Overworlds do not define mmos. Several MMOs have purely instanced zones) - Lots of content , quests , story etc. (There are plenty of MMOs that are lacking in one or more of these areas.) - Frequent updates, patches and content additions (hotfixes and weekly patches count) - Lots of classes and specializations (not true) - Economy: crafting , trading , selling (dismantling gives you items and glimmer, which is what you'd get from selling. Some MMOs have no trade system. Can craft year 2 exotics) - Social features : Text chat window , ingame Clan/Guild features , matchmaking , party finder - High amount of raids Large party raids with plenty of players ( games with only 5 to 6 man raids) - Item/Gear variety/Transmog (gear variety exists, you have to range across all content and classes) - Lots of (free) emotes (again, many don't have this option) You played WoW I imagine and everything that could be an mmo has to stack to it. Which simply isn't true. Destiny is an MMORPGFPS - Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game First Person Shooter. It has all of those elements.

nothing massive about destiny , im sorry

Editado por Medic: 10/5/2015 11:33:34 AMPlayer base is all that accounts for. You have the ability to interact with multiple players within the "lobby" zones. As you would in any instanced MMOs I.e. Vindictus, Tera, Blade and Soul. Multiple "channels" with players spread across them. Patrols also count. If they decided to write the code to just have players host only megaservers then you'd see a mass of numbers, but it would also kill an FPS.
-
by that definition also Call of duty is a MMORPG , im not here to argue with you , i just dont think destiny qualified into that category , just like borderlands doesnt
-
With borderlands you don't have the option to interact with more than 3 others. Call of duty would be considered fringe MMOFPS and you can interact with a mass of people. Battlefield would be a much better example, with Planetsode 2 being the best. They still count, but they aren't generally thought of that way. When you start reaching beyond a limited pool of interaction, you start getting into the realm of MMOs. Most games nowadays are MMOs by pure player base, whether or not that is how they are referred to.
-
i understand where you coming from , but unless its like GW WOW DCUO FF14 for example it doesnt count as a MMORPG to me , but as i said my definition isnt universal and you may have a different one
-
You just listed off many elements of destiny. Just because it's in its second year and still needs time to grow, it doesn't mean I can't be classified as an MMO.

Editado por GANTZ: 10/5/2015 11:15:06 AMdestiny doesnt have the scale of MMO , it simply isnt one , nothing i listed is in destiny and if it kinda is its not on a scale of MMO's , but if it makes you feel better about it feel free to call it as such , id just recommend to try some real MMO's so you can compare but i dont claim to be universally right , your definition may be different than mine , i just compare it to real MMO's which i played before destiny existed
