Classic Bungie. We have community managers that know full well that everyone is grinding Dragon Strikes like crazy to get the Hopscotch Pilgrim. They have metrics on what strikes are being played and this forum is full of Hopscotch posts all day. Think they might have mentioned that the HP would be destroyed in the new weapons tuning patch? Think it might have crossed their miniscule minds to point that out so people don't grind for something that will be fundamentally altered? I just got mine to drop this weekend after weeks of trying and haven't even been able to re-roll it yet without it coming out now that it's no longer the same weapon. Bunch of idiots. Have the decency to at least give a hint as to the fact that the grind would be useless and to hang tight. Unbelievable. Even with the knowledge that the gun wouldn't be "ascendable" to max light for purposes of raids, etc., at least leave it alone for PVP purposes! Explain yourself. ADDITION: going through the range of many responses, let me clarify some points. (1) yes, we all knew it was a year 1 weapon that was being left behind. The thought was that at least it would have value in non-level-advantage-enabled crucible for fun. (2) it is clear that even though there was info in the patch notes that the community as a whole was confused by those notes as it relates to this weapon, as evidenced by the dozens of threads and posts related to this weapon we saw the past two months (i.e., every "Just got Hopscotch, AMA" and "just got Hopscotch, what's the best roll?" thread) (3). It is also clear that many members of the community were grinding hard for the gun, at their own peril knowing it was only a year one weapon, for the purpose of obtaining it to enjoy in crucible. Think of all the Dragon Strike threads and posts about the number of strikes played without a drop. (4). My main point is that the community at large did not understand that Bungie would nerf the weapon and change it drastically the way they did, as evidenced by all the different threads posted. The community managers should have been able to put two and two together on behalf of the many members who were either confused by or unaware of the plans Bungie had for this weapon and simply posted a note saying "FYI Hopscotch Pilgrim will change quite a bit in the new patch for all those grinding away for it." That would be a proper use of their time given how they monitor these boards (allegedly) and knew how much passion and time was being dedicated to acquiring this gun in the waning weeks of year one. Things happen in this game. Some of it is head-scratching. At least respect players' time and when you see the community gaining a head of steam toward a goal that you know is going to fall apart soon, it would be an example of the two-way street we are supposed to have with Bungie via our community managers that we would get a heads up that we missed something important in the patch notes. All the other disrespectful comments are fine. They show what you're like behind a keyboard. Thanks to all those that tried to give a solid answer either way on this issue. In the end I feel really bad for those that were rolling their weapon like crazy, burning motes and weapon parts and glimmer which are now vital to leveling up their characters (as tradable parts) in the expansion. I got off lucky.
