Hey Guardians,
sorry for the wall of text, I believe it's a worthy wall of healthy discussion
This is my vision for a truly competitive multiplayer in Destiny worthy of becoming an esport. Frankly, I believe we are already halfway there. If you are a regular on some of the PvP streams on Twitch, you'll know that there is a huge competitive community willing to support such a huge leap forwards from bungie.
Sweaties are when two pre-made teams of 3 or 6 match up against another team of 3 or 6 to play under predetermined rules such as no final round and no heavy. They are a primitive version of custom games because they are somewhat hindered by the matchmaking algorithm. You need the fire team leaders to live relatively close to each other and search at the same time. It works 8/10 times.
This community has already created its own leaderboards and has already hosted its own tournaments with great success.
However, I, and many of the players who play this game more competitively than most believe there is a huge imbalance. Imbalance that forces us to make our own rules during these tournaments or general "sweaties".
For example, Final Round in any secondary weapon whether it is on a shotgun or sniper is not allowed. Why? It's broken. But hey, you didn't need me to tell you that. Yet, that is still not the problem. Weapons will always be receiving balance updates, as it is the nature of any FPS game. I just wish it would happen a little bit more frequently and consistently.
Furthermore, with the introduction of The Ram in the House of Wolves DLC, Warlocks became ever more increasingly powerful to the point where they could survive a shoulder charge?? Thorn+Arc Bolt??? Flux Grenades??? Even Rockets that would have killed you without The Ram??? This addition forced players go ban Exotic armour in general because why ban one exotic armour piece and not the others? Some people even went as far as banning all exotics, including weapons because let's face it, in the current meta, it's all Thorn or Last Word. If you don't play the meta in these game types you're destined to lose.
With exotic armour, comes the imbalance of the subclasses that they boost. Some of the perks on these subclasses have been broken since launch.
How many times have you seen a Hunter at 0.1% health where he stabbed you in the face and one shotted you? That's the back stab glitch. How many times have you seen a hunter blink and shotgun you as soon as he came out of blink. That's quick draw. The single most annoyingly overpowered perk in the game. It's the only reason why hunters are the optimal class for Blink-Shotgun. Flame Shield? No class in the game has as much HP as a Sunsinger.
The imbalance doesn't stop there. I've hardly ever, if not never, seen a Titan in sweaties. Why? Because they suck donkey meat in comparison to other classes. Voidwalkers, and these days even Gunslingers, are also immensely rare. It has become a meta of Firebolts and Arc Bolts. I don't blame people for playing the meta, that's the smart move. However, I also admire those that handicap themselves in order to become better players and feel a lot more satisfaction from killing their sweaty try harding opponents. On the other hand, someone who uses the Hopscotch Pilgrim versus someone of the same skill using The Last Word everywhere they go will not be on equal footing. That's just fact!
Last but not least, I'm sick and tired of waiting in orbit for 5 minutes (sometimes 10 because of someone's shit Internet) just to match up against another bunch of Virgins for a meaningless test of our dick sizes. We need private lobbies and custom games. The potential of this games PvP is massively hindered because of the lack of these two features.
What is your take on the Crucible and its current meta? Do you believe it to be competitive? What improvement do you believe should be prioritised?
TL;DR
- weapons are not balanced and I know bungie are looking into it. That's great. They should do it more often and with more consistency.
- they need to stop ignoring the OP armour and subclass perks and start looking into way to make other classes competitively viable to use.
- please give us private lobbies and custom games. I'm so incredibly horny for those two things, as are 99% of the competitive multiplayer community on Twitch and across the destiny universe
GIVE THIS POST A BUMP IF YOU AGREE
edit: Some people here wish to be toxic and immature when we are trying to discuss the issues of the Multiplayer in Destiny. It's sad that instead of contributing to the topic in a mature, and insightful way, they choose to name call and belittle the optimistic vision some of us share for this game.
1 RespuestaI love playing Sweaties. I'd rather join up and play some of that than Trials or regular PvP.

15 RespuestasDidn't read the whole thing but I think I saw a "skilled" streamer playing this with a bunch of other "skilled" streamers. It's actually kinda dumb. just people with "high skill" using thorn + shotgun/final round sniper.

1 RespuestaI read this as sweeties. Was hoping for candy.......:(

2 RespuestasSweaties are Scottish people.

3 RespuestasI feel competitive Pvp should be a seperate option for private games with set balanced weapons and armor which are just available to everyone. That would make it more accessible. Balancing a game with so many activities solely based on how the small group of the highest skilled pvp sweaty players isn't a good idea imo. Don't take away my ram :(

3 RespuestasKnowing bungie theyll most likely charge you for private lobbies
-
1 RespuestaReally awesome what you guys have started, that hopefully gets bungie to listen to the community.

8 RespuestasI agree with what you have said and think it was well written. For me I hate the pvp in this game. It has become a stomping ground for cheaters and a toxic community. Bungie will never give us dedicated servers they have our money and have no plans to spend it on something they don't feel they need. This game has been out for a year and there are still things here that have been broken since day one that are not fixed. Just face it Bungie is going to do what Bungie wants and that's it unless daddy activision tells him other wise. Thanks for playing is all we will get

1 RespuestaThe Crucible is arguably the worst MP game I have ever played... Bungie pioneered console MP back in the day but post Halo 3 it all went to shit.

2 RespuestasYou mean shweeatiees Kappa

1 RespuestaI'd love this but they'd have to add a whole new part of the game. And judging by the amount of updates they push out, that could take years
-
1 RespuestaI 100 percent agree with you I'm decent at pvp and would love to face against people with my skill level in a tournament bungie listen to this guy he knows what he's talking about make him crucible dev!!!but it should also be a option not to do this only if u want to

11 RespuestasEditado por Ezimatana: 8/18/2015 12:24:31 PMCan someone please hand me a tissue? Steps: 1) make a vendor sell crucible hear with 0 def/0 attack which will be adopted for same start loadouts/gear in competitive. 2) nerf QuickDraw to the ground 3) implement private lobbies ASAP, then add all the gears and cogs for custom games, then add all a map editor or forge mode. 4) only talk to the best PvP players feedback for balancing and stop listening to 12 year olds on this forum. With respect. Bungie.

3 RespuestasI agree with you,but not completely . In 3v3s I make the original rules.....while adding rules such as 1 of each handcannon and 1 of each character . Also rules such as no exotic armor and atleast 1 sniper

7 RespuestasIt is impossible to ensure a match without custom games. This post is such a troll post it makes me sick. There are no such thing as "Sweaties."

Lol horny. We need some recess as well bungie

Play a different game...... Some people date and hope to mold that person into the perfect match, others just find a better person

1 RespuestaI still don't know what a 'sweaty' is, but it sounds as stupid as calling someone a 'scrub'.
-
1 RespuestaBump. I agree with everything, but if the Ram disturbs you so much, go get one. I don't understand the whine on the Ram. I was initially pissed about it, then I got it, I saw its effects are not so crucial/immense as people suggest, and I went back to my defender titan on crucible.

1 RespuestaI agree private lobbies and custom games should be added, but feel they need to fix the issue of lag and communications before they add these modes. Lag is killing the game and for me its really hard to tell if someone is "doing it on purpose" or not. I hope Bungie can determine this because if not alot of people are being punished for simply having a bad connection. Bungie should only allow a minimal connection speed/type (whatever that metric is) and all the others will either need to improve their particular connection or just not play. It isn't fair to those of us that have wired broadband connections to have to deal with red bars at the most inopportune moments. I imagine its pretty hard to get all the weapons, armor and AI in perfect tune with each other. There will always be the next "ghorn" and "blink shotgun" in the game and subsequently, more nerfs. What I don't like is balancing for PvP for instance, and that ultimately negatively affects PvE. I'd rather them up the health of the bosses than affect my guns performance, but I guess its easier to just affect the particular weapon. Toxic responses are a norm on this forum, sadly. Too many people type things I'd hope they'd never say to a person's face. Within this forum though I think most that say the hateful and nasty things WOULD say them to someone's face in person. Sad existence to live if you ask me. Nice post and I hope Bungie reads and acknowledges it. Cheers
